Finally getting rid of 21”wheels and Pirellis

Has anyone replaced their 21” tires and wheels.
if so, what wheels did you replace them with, 19”or 20”? I think I’d prefer the OE 19” but may have to replace them with aftermarket brands. Any recommendations on those?
I do not want anything more to do with “super low profile wheels and tires” that have little distance between the rim and the road, having had my 4th failure yesterday.
id appreciate any feedback from people who have pulled the trigger and exchanged out of the 21” super low profile disasters.

I think the 20s offer a good compromise between ride quality and looks, but if you’re looking more towards ride quality, definitely get the 19s. Also, if you’re not concerned about getting original equipment, you have a wide choice of aftermarket styles. I would stick with reputable brands like Vossen or HRE, etc. I would personally avoid replicas but I heard some people don’t have issues with them. I would never trust those cast wheels myself, though.

Somewhere around here there's a link to a place that sells the OEM wheels at a decent price; I think it was @Streamliner that posted it. Maybe he will pop in here and hook you up.

People hold styling high on their list; I do it myself. This car however is all about comfort and it looks ok with the 19s, they seem to fit the big ol luxury sedan look better than they would on a smaller vehicle. I'd go that way if you can handle the look because your car will get better: Better economy, better acceleration, bettter braking, better road conformity for more traction, increased comfort, greatly reduced risk of flats or folding a wheel, etc.

There is no way in hell that I would foot the bill for new wheels & tires. MB knows they have an issue with the 21’s and I would demand that THEY swap them out for you at no charge. Short of that, I’d get a lawyer to write a letter and then ratchet it up from there.

In my opinion, the 19” Aero wheels are the best choice for the W223. An even better choice is not buying a W223.
