2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
Ordered a new car today…………
After 17 brand new MB’s, including my last 8 new cars, it would appear that my next new ride will be a BMW, an I7 eDrive50 to be exact. I placed an order today and they are telling me 3 to 4 months. I am not thrilled with the exterior looks of this car or some of the interior trim items and would have much preferred to stay with MB but quite frankly, I believe that I did not leave MB, MB left me. With the unhappy experience I had with MB unwilling to fix the harsh shifting transmission in my 2020 S560 and then my absolute meltdown experience with my 2022 S580–both of which were repurchased by MBUSA—yes, that’s two in a row!—I felt that I needed a change. Swearing that my next new car would have amazing ride quality and comfort over all else, led me to my ugly duckling decision. The car drives like a dream.
The BMW dealer is about three blocks from my office and should I need to bug them about anything, it should be relatively simple. The fact that I usually drive between about 10 to 16 miles a day and can charge the car both at my home and office, coupled with living in idiotic California, where gas prices are currently around $5.20 a gallon, makes the idea of an electric car that much more appealing. We will still have two MB ICE cars in the household, should the need arise.
So, barring me finding my dream S560 (still searching for it!) while I wait for my new car to be delivered, I look forward to going BMW—and electric—this summer. Stay tuned!
Two bad experiences should leave a sour taste in anyone's mouth. Please remember to come back and post your experience with the new vehicle. We'd love to hear it.
Congratulations Stream, I think you will enjoy the BMW. It's nice to change once in a while and BMW is making some nice cars, we love ours. Would love to see the specs.

I had titanium silver, and another, can't recall the name of it, was a blueish silver. I didn't like the blue so much but liked the titanium, Similar to GT silver with Porsche, machine silver with Corvette, had those too, really like that shade of silver.

I had convinced myself that I wanted the Oxide Gray Metallic, but at one dealership I visited, they had a silver, non-M body style and I just knew it was the color for me.
EVs are better in AWD IMO.... I know that Steve kinda asked similar question, but is there a reason u picked the RWD (or edrive) 50 instead of the dual motor AWD (or xDrive) 60? xDrive on BMWs is a lot of fun compared to RWD, unlike Mbenz where I felt it was the opposite. Range should be very similar, slightly less maybe a few digits in-town, but on pure-highway trips there is might be no measurable difference at all, and some have argued that xDrive maybe even more efficient than eDrive on highway. Just like the Tesla S Plaid (3 AWD motors) vs Tesla S Long range (2 motors AWD), the plaid has similar range if not better on highways despite the additional weight....but only at high speeds, perhaps because each motor would then be operating near optimal electric-to-mechanical energy conversion level. I would assume it'd be similar when comparing RWD vs dual-motor AWD in the i7, plus the spirited driving experience and extra power.
With an EV, all the torque is on tap from start. If you're casually driving it wont matter. If you're a lead foot or in inclement weather, then AWD makes sense.

Congrats! That car is also an excellent value...
Did you test drive the 50 vs the 60?
I am hoping that by the time the car arrives, the country will be swimming in EV inventory and that lease deals will be even better than they are now.
Yes, I did drive the I7 xDrive60 and the eDrive50 back to back. Other than the extra power on tap, the cars seemed to ride the same. Not needing the extra power and actually preferring RWD over AWD, the choice of the lesser car was an easy one.

I’m just not into speed & acceleration anymore and honestly, “fun” for me in a big, heavy saloon is enjoying the ride, comfort & quietness. I have my SL if I get the urge to be sporty every now & then.

Yes and I left all rear seat options off my build, as virtually nobody ever rides back there, with the exception of my granddaughters. They would have loved that big screen, but I just didn’t want it.
