S580 exclusive Napa leather wear
Leather seat wear
Seat wear
My dealer’s service department has suggested getting a new backseat cover for $2620 as they say it is physical damage and not covered under warranty. I am very disappointed at this leather wear and have never encountered anything like this in my previous two s500s and BMW 750. I wish this was covered by warranty and am wondering if any one else on this forum encountered spontaneous leather damage and what they did for it.

How many miles and are you of a portly or large build?
Based upon the creases on the inner side of the bolster and in conjunction with the excessive wear on the outer side, it appears you are pushing up against the outer side both quite firmly and regularly.
Dying the leather alone will not fix the damage esp on the outside, as it would require filler etc. before dying it.
Once repaired/replaced, I would suggest using the auto ingress/egress function.
Lastly, why didn't you take some sort of corrective action long before it got this bad?
