The statistics in that article are actually faulty, they printed a retraction that doesn't get circulated. Its really about 20%

Even though I hate the lights and trashcan transmission, I’m still considering the refresh S for my next car when my lease ends in two years. Here are the cars I’m considering:

1. Refresh S Class
2. RS6 (it’s being rebranded the RS7 Avant)
3. M5 Touring or Sedan

I’m seriously considering buying and owning long term (five+ years) under a generous warranty umbrella and the longest pre-paid maintenance plan available. I know these choices couldn’t be more starkly different but that’s me: slow lane Sunday driver grandpa or mid-life crisis hooligan that’s also practical.

If luxury isn’t a factor, there would be no reason on earth to not choose the M5 out of this list; better drive and much more fun.

I like your style Frenetic. Hooliganism is what keeps life interesting! I haven’t driven the M5 recently and don’t know how comfortable it is. You can’t go wrong with any of the 3 on your list, but there is something very, very special about the M5.

Agree, life is too short to drive boring cars.

I gotta say, that RS7 Avant is compelling...

Well for those who are interested, there is a “one of a kind” - kind of - but surely limited edition M5 CS on Cars and Bids that got listed this weekend. I’ll submit a bid on this one for sure but I have a ceiling in mind.

Yeah, I really like the new M5. Even though M purists are having a meltdown because it weighs the same as an Escalade, I like the fact that it’s a plug-in hybrid. I’m not trying to track the thing anyways. Isle of Man Metallic Green is just wow.
