Background: I am ordering new '25 GLS SUV for the HH and it's been a while since I've driven an S Class since my new at the time S Coupes (if I remember correctly) had a version of ABC, and ADS as standard equipment. But now there's an ADS Plus (GLS580 only) which I can't seem to find much on the difference between the two (plus and non), and ABC is also a GLS 580 only option. We really only need/desire a well optioned 450 as this will be a CA vehicle and don't need/want a big V8 gas guzzler with premium at $5-6 per gallon as we use our large SUV's for long trips/exploring CA. Spoke with the GM of my dealership today who's placing my order, but he didn't know and is having my SA look into it upon his return from vacation next week. In the interim I figured I'd ask the brain trust here to see how beneficial the latest version of ABC is in their S's, and if the new S's also have the ADS Plus, and what the difference is between it and ADS. Certainly I 've asked on the GLS forum but 580's are fewer and farer between than 450's, plus it's not as active as this forum, and i know the 223's should have both the ABC and ADS Plus.
2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...

Appreciate any insights you can provide.
ABC or “Active Body Control,” was one of “THE” most sophisticated suspension options ever offered by any manufacturer. I have it on my 2019 SL450 and have had it on other models, including my 2013 S550. With the introduction of the W222 in 2014 ABC was replaced by MBC or “Magic Body Control,” which was the same as ABC, but with the addition of a camera to scan the road to adjust the suspension accordingly. MBC was an absolutely MAGNIFICENT system and I had it on my 2015, 2018 & 2020 S Class sedans.
When the W223 came out, MBC was replaced by E-ABC. I had the $6,500.00 option on my 2022 S580 and it was HORRIBLE! They never should have changed from MBC. If you are going to go for a new S Class, forget the E-ABC option.
I've now since read they cameras do indeed work at night as the poster on the GLS forum was comparing it to something else. MB says the E-ABC offers "uncanny levels of comfort" which is very appealing to me. I'll be driving some GLS's (450 and 580) with the 23's this weekend and hope one also has the EABC. I emailed MB about the diff between the ADS and ADS Plus yesterday and still await their reply.
Bear in mind that Streamliner hated the ride in his W223 with eABC and went back to a W222 with airmatic that is identical to the S560 I had. I have not driven a W223 on eABC, but my S580 on airmatic rides better than that W222. So, you should test drive eABC before you commit to it.

The camera used for E-ABC is dual purpose, it's used for the roadscan and something else, either AR nav or lane keep assist or both I forget. The manual states that E-ABC doesn't work in several situations. See here.

Thank you, great info!
I find it odd about insufficiently lit roads as an S' headlights are quite good.
I also don't know what they mean if the road surface lacks optic structure.

I'm not certain but I think optic structure means that the camera is looking at the different shadows and the contrasts created from the various road undulations and natural light which comes from above. The computers probably can't read these undulations with as much precision because of how variable the light source would be from the headlights vs the fixed sunlight. Plus there is no camera in the world that can see just as well at night vs daylight so night time video inputs just aren't good enough for the computer to process.
All of them do, but he replaced them. My 223 rides so well on the run flats vs the S560 on non run flats that I have no plans to replace the run fats on my S580.
