Thankfully it only takes a software update to resolve.

Let’s see how long it takes to get notified that recall is available for fix. The way Mercedes roll out recalls is unexplainable. Thanks for the share……

As someone who personally experienced a complete & total shutdown of my 2022 S580, in bumper to bumper traffic, on a very busy & congested major highway, I can tell you that it is not an experience I ever wish to repeat. My car was operating OK one minute, then a red “battery low” message came on the screen, instructing me to “pull over & charge the battery,” and a few SECONDS later, before I could even change lanes, the car went 100% DEAD! The engine shut down and even the emergency flashers would not work.

The car, which had previously tallied something like 18 days in the dealer shop for various ailments, was towed to the dealer, where it spent another THIRTY days, before being returned to me and declared as “FIXED!” Living in California, where the VERY consumer friendly Lemon Laws—and the spectacular weather—are the ONLY reasons left to live here, MBUSA bought this disaster of a car back from me.

I still wonder what could have happened, if this incident took place with a family aboard, including toddlers in child seats, on a heavily trafficked, fast moving Interstate—in the rain—AT NIGHT.

as I recall, you couldn't even open your door locks correct from the outside? Imagine if your children were stuck inside and the battery died. How would you get inside the vehicle without breaking the glass?

how does this make you feel now..?.. this recall for the very issue that you had which was seemingly a tipping point to dump the car

That is correct. I made the mistake of closing the door when I exited the car and could not get back in. The tow truck driver wedged this inflatable “balloon” thing into the area at the rear of the driver’s door and when he inflated it, got a gap big enough to insert a thin, metal rod, with which he was able to open the door from the inside. I was not thrilled watching this, but by that time, I no longer cared anything about the $153,700.00 car.

Of course the good has its cons, California is also very strict emissions wise (I mean con for car enthusiast at least).

I am hoping that my next daily driver will be exempt from all of the state & federal emissions regulations.
