w222 vs w223
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I was not planning to bite this big of a bullet, but once I drove the car I knew I wanted a newer model, specifically with the 4D Bermester, amongst other options. Finding used 223's with the desired options was proving difficult, near impossible. I just threw that idea out the window. As it were we found one with what I wanted in the right colors currently on the water heading to Baltimore and I grabbed it. I'll post pics once she's in my driveway
W223 has an entirely different bodyshell and is based on MRA-Large. It has much more in common with the W205/W206 and W213/W214 than it does the W222. The W223 I would say is actually one of the few recent clean-sheet redesigns from Mercedes-Benz, other than the GLE/GLS and new SL/AMG GT. All the other MRA II vehicles besides the S-Klasse are currently based on their MRA MIdsize predecessors. The S-Klasse had no MRA predecessor, hence the need to start from scratch.
Also, again, I wouldn’t count the powertrains, since there have been so many instances of cars getting redesigned entirely from scratch, but carrying over the preceding powertrains.

You're going to love that 4D, really does well across most genres. If I may offer a suggestion: Bite the bullet and get the onboard data. Use that for Tidal or Apple music, then stick with ATMOS as much as possible. It's not as good if you run it through Car Play or Android Auto, even though you would think you're getting the goods by bypassing Bluetooth, but you'll be down on sound quality. You can also set up your phone as a hotspot, but you've got to hassle with turning it on and off. Don't forget to go through the individual setup in the Burmy, takes a few minutes, but worth it.

@OP: Congrats on the W223… that’s an awesome color combo. LOVE the red interior and looking forward to seeing photos. As far as the exterior, if it’s not blue, white is probably the next best paint color.

I was going to download amazon music unlimited in the apps of Mbux and stream through that. Is that even possible? And where do I find "Atmos" I had title on my last phone and streamed through BT on my aftermarket system ( in my old truck ) But my new phone doesn't have enough data storage and I sold all my audio equipment. Amazon music unlimited also streams Flac files also so I thought I'd try that. I hadn't considered streaming again until I listened to my #d system in the GLE. That system is worthy of Flac files. Heck, even the compressed Sirius stream sounds decent.
Forgive my ignorance please. I'm a relative MB newb

Rather than answer your PM, I'll post here. Others may benefit later, and some may want to jump in with corrections, or have other tips to pass along
The onboard data is a plan you can sign up for in the car. Not sure if it matters to you, but outside what I was talking about, it will give you an onboard hotspot. What 4D owners will definitely be wanting, is that it also gives you is the ability to use that data for your tunes. You have the option to use that data, set up your phone as a hotspot and connect the car to it, or use Bluetooth. Do not use Bluetooth, that will greatly cut down your bandwidth. Using your phone as a hotspot will mean you have to turn it on and connect your car to it every time you get in, or keep your hotspot up all the time, with the attendant battery hit. The car connecting to the phone as a hotspot automatically isn't 100%, which is another reason using the onboard data is easier. It also spares you from pulling the data off of your phone plan, and you are going to be pulling down megatons of data if you are listening in ATMOS.
You'll likely want to go Apple if you're an iPhone user, or Tidal if you're on Android. The car already has both as a native app onboard, along with Amazon, and Spotify. Whichever way you go, you sign in to the native app, with your credentials, in the car. I cant recall exactly what you have to do in MBUX to get ATMOS, I know I did have to turn it on in Tidal.
Go 3 minutes in to the following video and you'll get a pretty good idea of the process for setting up the personal sound profile.
