Everyone hated the taillights and headlights on the W223 when if was first released, however, unlike the 7-series it didn't take long before we got used to it. To me, the W223 has the best looking rear design now in its segment. Front fascia is boring but not ugly. Same for the facelift; I'd wait until it's fully revealed, wait some time and judge it then.
I wouldn't say everyone hated the taillights, I mean, at least I wasnt one of them. I think the main complaint people had with the current W223 taillights was how similar it is to an A-Class (shape wise) although it looks very different to an A-Class in my opinion. MB gone with this design citing that it makes the vehicle look wider.
I didn't hate the lights—didn't even dislike them. In fact, I thought they were quite fitting for the car. Subtle, yet intricate detailing; elegant and restrained. The right lights for the car; just as look at me Lambo styling, belongs on a Lamborghini.
Another take on it is that the lights are what defined luxury, before the easily influenced Facebook crowd began equating logos with prestige.
Does the integration of the Superscreen mean that the wood trim in front of where the front passenger would sit would be replaced by a screen? I know someone mentioned there is wood returning to the center console area, but I think I'd much rather have all that front passenger dashboard be wood trim than for the center console area to be wood.
Also, the spy shots are of the Z223 facelift, but that likely doesn't matter for carrying over for the W223 facelift. To that end, however, is there any insider information on if they will bring the PHEV to the Z223 facelift for all markets and not just China?
Look around the industry, everybody is going to binnacleless dash designs. Just gotta put up with it until it changes. I don't even think about it anymore and I hated the look originally.

My hope is the superscreen will be optional and there will be wood in that area if you don't get it.
The hood exists in the EQ cars with the hyperscreen (and wood console/cup holder cover) and I hope it continues. The superscreen does not offer this as the gauge cluster is separate.
I hate to interject into the importance of where wood would be placed in the car, but here are some other minor changes:
- MBOS with AI based on Google Gemini, it should allow you to issue voice command including opening doors, turning on heat, and many other features. Should also be integrated with Google home.
- Next level of autonomous driving based on AI with the help of new NVIDIA chipset.

i just cant wait a year or two, im so excited so i can drop 200k € for S class with a screen i currently already have in E class.WOW

This is just how it is, the S Class design debuted 3 years before the E Class design.
Also worth noting that the E-Klasse is now the styling leader for Mercedes-Benz with the new Design Language 4.0. Expect upcoming styling changes to reflect it more closely.

Well, owning an S-class has never been about the screen..... The screens design has always been shared and looked very similar among the Mbenz lineup, especially the E and S class. The S-class ownership experience has nothing to do with the screens. I see nothing wrong at all with their approach.

I'm on the exact opposite; I like the front end but never quite cared for the rear design, it's like an old woman with saggy breasts lying on her back.
I would hope the drive pilot hardware becomes easier to order/is standardized with the facelift, but the photo of the steering wheel is dashing my hopes a bit.
