Hi, I’m looking at a 2024 S580E, but there’s a credit on the window sticker for -$500 for:
What does this mean? Is the big charging brick deleted? Does the car still charge with a J1772 Level 2 household plug?
- D9L - Credit for missing standard Direct Current charging system (83B) -$500
What does this mean? Is the big charging brick deleted? Does the car still charge with a J1772 Level 2 household plug?

The car does not have the (optional in Europe) DC-charging port. It certainly has the AC-charging option, the car would not be a plug-in hybrid without it.

Interesting, I thought chip shortage is over, 500 is nothing for the convenience of the DC that offers : ( Originally Posted by Diesel Benz

With only 46 miles range (rated) in EV why would you ever really want to stop for DC fast charging? It seems to be designed for daily home charging. I looked at one. It was nice. Really quiet and smooth. It did not have all the options I was looking for though. I was surprised the S580 when "E" was the 6 cylinder. I am still curious why they did not call it a S500E instead since it is the 6. The one I looked at came with a travel / home charger that easily charges the 46 miles overnight.

Got it so the bottom part of the CCS plug is blanked out? But the top J1772 still works?Originally Posted by Diesel Benz

The socket in your photo does not seem to be the US model but yes, the top part still works.Originally Posted by holeydonut

Still not the figure MB gives for us in Europe, about 100 km range and I've often done 120 (75 miles). A lot less in the winter obviously.DC-charging is also expensive (at least for us) even if kWh based, almost ridiculous for minute based fee as the max DC charging power is 60 kW, 30 kW in the "battery safe DC charging mode". But on the go at times it may be easier to find a DC charger.

Indeed odd, my car was built during the "chip shortage" period and it still got the DC charger.Originally Posted by W205C43PFL

Maybe the demand wasn't there? As some forum members did mention a few limitations like speed and price.Originally Posted by Diesel Benz
