2022 s580 dead battery no start after charging

this is really not looking good for mercedes to have to tow the car to dealership after a dead battery.
is there a way to reset the system after charging it?
battery is recharged its holding the voltage but the car wont start
to me it seems either poorly designed software
or poory designed software on purpose to micro transaction people at the dealershipas much as they can.
everyone i talked to so far said theres nothing can be done.and needs to be towed.
car just died on its own possibly from the systems waking up and never shutting down while it was being worked on (paint protection install)

never heard of it not starting again if the battery is sufficient charge. Only thing will disable start will be obviously be a bad battery, the second is the ecu if it senses a collision, which is applicable here. XENTRY will be needed to re-enable start in that case.

Unless the dead battery confused the vehicle's sensors and the vehicle thought it was in a collision even if it is not? Or perhaps the 48V battery is discharged? Since you need the 48V battery working to have the vehicle running, yes the 12V battery starts the vehicle but the 48V mild hybrid system battery also powers the electric cooler and many other components. Therefore, if the 48V mild hybrid battery is faulty or not working, the vehicle will not allow it to start.

My dearly departed 2022 S580 being towed to the dealer—where it sat for 45 days—after shutting down in the middle of a very busy highway. MBUSA bought it back shortly after it was returned to me—thank goodness. Of the 60 brand new cars I had previously owned, it was “THE” worst one overall.

I thought the 48V battery is what starts these and the 12V runs all the electronics?

I thought so too at one point but realized that is not the case, the 12V battery does seem to charge the 48V battery through a voltage converter once the vehicle is running though. For what it is worth, the EQS etc. also has a 12V battery.

I too just had my 2022 S-580 towed to the dealer after it stopped running while in traffic and wouldn’t restart. Like you, I consider this car the worst new vehicle I have ever owned. Would you be willing to share how you were able to get MB to repurchase your vehicle? My vehicle has 12,400 miles on it. I’m afraid to drive it anywhere again.

It really depends on what state you live in. In crazy California where I live, about the ONLY benefit to living here--other than the fabulous weather--is the VERY consumer friendly "Lemon" laws. In CA, in most cases, if any vehicle that is covered under a factory warranty is in for repairs for a cumulative 30 days or more, it is considered to be a lemon. MBUSA knows this and rather than wait until the owner hires an attorney--which MBUSA also knows that they will have to pay for--in most all cases, they will simply buy the car back.

Not to bore those who know the story already, but they bought back my 2020 S560 that I special ordered, due to a very harsh downshifting transmission. I then got a new 2022 S580, which had numerous issues, but the "coup de grace" was the aforementioned shut down on a busy highway and the 45 days it spent at the dealer, which prompted them to buy THAT car back. When I dropped the 2022 off, I needed a car. The dealer had just taken in a fairly bare bones 2020 S560 with only 8800 miles on it, so I bought it. That car also developed a harsh downshifting transmission and MBUSA bought that CPO car back. That's THREE IN A ROW! Amazing. Absolutely amazing and, when you think about it, quite depressing. Oh well.
