Reprogram Rear Steering from 4.5 to 10

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I didn't figure out the parallel parking until later. I never had much issue with it, and being old, have had plenty of practice. I did give it a quick look when I first got the car, and it worked fine. But it was slow, not so slow that you'd get honkers, but I can do it faster. End result was I preferred to do it myself. Eventually I started wondering just what will the car accept as a parking spot, and could it get into those spots? So I started experimenting; I'd pick smaller and smaller spaces, and see if the car would recognize it as a viable space, and could get the car into it. Turns out that it will use spaces that can't be entered without rear wheel steer. It's not a skill thing, the car can go in steeper, because it can turn the rear wheels as it approaches the curb, to avoid hitting it. There's a limit to this, it's not a forklift. But it can take you where no boat of this size has gone before the 10 degree.
Getting out when using the system can be even more interesting. In time, I had learned to let the car pull itself in, and had come to trust the system. The reason I had learned to do it is that it turns out the car won't pull itself out, unless it puts itself in. I've no idea why this is a limitation; often as not, the cars and their spacing front and back, will have changed by the time you jump in again. The system will still pull you out just fine so the limitation is an odd one. In any event, it exists, so I had started letting the car park itself, so it could pull itself out. That was in turn the result of one fine day...
I had parked at a coffee shop down in the viillage. I was still in the exploratory phase, and had let the car park itself. Turned out the pastries Mrs Crab wanted weren't out yet, so I grabbed a cappucino, and sat outside while I waited for them to come out of the oven. I had about 15 minutes to kill and during that time the cars front and back changed a couple times. With the guy in front, pulling well back to do the pull straight out maneuver. Not good parking etiquette, but it happens. As the two men got out, the passenger asked the driver if he thought he should move, because "the rich donkey orifice in the Mercedes" wouldn't be able to get out. The driver gave it a Meh, and into the shop they went. At that point they brought out my pastries, and I was off. I was truly curious to see if the car could get itself out, and it did not disappoint. The car will crab, and walk itself out, bit by bit. As it was doing this I had a small audience watching to see if I could get out. Turns out, I could, or more accurately the car could. Last I saw of the guys from the car in front, one had a whoa look on his face as I was rolling away.
I don't think I would pay that either. But I might, because I would know what I was missing. The 10 degree is real, it's not just a number. That chit works.
