W223 Cabin Air Filter
To get to it, you must remove that entire lower trim panel. This is a complex job with many hidden clips. It's very easy to break the panel if you don't know what you're doing.
Because of this, most people take it to the dealer for this specific filter change. It's not a straightforward DIY job.
I am on day 3 of replacing the dust filter (in the engine compartment) and the cabin air filters under the passenger side dash of my 2022 S580. The dust filter is relatively easy once you spot the 2 release clips on each side of the dust filter holder. The cabin air filters require the removal of 2 screws (2 and not 3j for removal of the under dash panel. Please note that the panel has an attached air duct on its top side that runs from the console side. I disconnected it from the panel while removing the panel. I am not sure if the panel can be removed without doing so but maybe. The case that holds the 2 filters has a “door” with 1 locking tab (not 2 like in prior versions) to release the filters. The filters can then be removed and new ones inserted.
This is where I am after day 3. I can’t get the filters fully in the case so that I can close the door. Whoever designed this system should be shot. I finally gave up for the day and replaced the filters in my Porsche 911 Turbo (3 minute job) and the wife’s Volvo XC90 (5 minutes).
By the way, I purchased these 3 filters at the dealer (stupid) for $295 but refused the pay $400 for their installation. Maybe try again tomorrow or leave the car in a bad neighborhood with the keys in it.

I, too, like to work on my own cars and was planning on doing most, if not all, regular maintenance items.
If changing a simple cabin air filter is this difficult, it's not good engineering IMO.
