I saw on the E55 forum that if you go to CD and hold down the 5 key and then the 3 and 7 you can access a menu in Comand that allows the AMG screen on startup.

I tried it on my S55 but didn't seem to work. Does anyone know if the S55's have that same ability?

it shoud work hold 5, then press 3 and 7 at the same time and hold all of them. I find it worked best in radio mode.

It doesn't work in my car (05 E55) all it does is change one of the radio presets, in CD it does nothing. Oh well.

It will work on the CLS but not on the R-class. The CLS and E have a COMAND unit built by Becker, the R-CLK-C-ML have a MCSII built by Alpine. As for the S Class I think the head unit is different than the E and CLS unit.

I find that it's best to put it in a mode where the pressing of those numbers does not have a function. for example, put it in "Map" or "Aux" mode (if nothing is connected to it) and then press the "3, 5, 7" keys simultaneously for up to 5-6 seconds. This should bring up a menu, one of which allows you to change the screen to AMG. If it doesn't work try it a few times in case Command unit is temperamental. This worked in my wifes W211 E class.
