bad luck with '04 s55

Bought it for less than 2 mos and only 11k miles. First week, check engine light came on. They said something wrong with the sensor. Changed sensor

This morning abs light came on and so malfunction, visit shop soon.... and they said bad sensor on brake, new sensor will be here tomorrow morning.

Never had to visit shop with previous toyotas.

Sensors in MBs go bad everytime. Those are common issues. You have a perfomance car that will never compare to a 100hp toyota. Sorry. You think other performance cars are any better, you'll be dissapointed.

I know the feeling, I have had my s55 for 4 months now but its driving me mad, even though its awesome.

fuel sensor problem made it break down, parktronic sensors faulty, front brakes have had to be replaced, comand turns itself off every so often, telephone refuses to recognise phone occasionally, drivers seatbelt sometimes wont release from the holder etc

Weird 'cos I love it!

Let me b¡tch too: Today I had to call roadside assistance (at my house) because of a flat battery. I thought it was a broken battery, but as it turns out the alternator is not 100% so it needs to be changed. The car has 77K Km on it, so it is not very uncommon said the technician.

The weekend is for the SL55 then You always have to have a spare Mercedes

That used to be the saying for the Jaguar owners.

Now MB gets the dubious distinction.

Instant update: Alternator seems fine, battery seems fine. However, there is a huge power drain so they suspect a bad switch (relais). "Investigation of such a problem is very difficult in these cars" sais the service spokesperson.

To be continued...

that's my only complaint with MBs. they have so many electrical problems. these germans need to learn a thing or two when it comes to technology from the japanese! but there's a reason why we still buy MBs when we know they have problems.

If they work, they are absolutely the shizznit.

Instant update 2: The car is being relocated monday from one workplace to the other (of the same dealership) as the ones (not my regular workshop) can't seem to figure it out. The suspicion is back on the alternator, not the alternator itself, but a pulley/clutch that makes it not spin around like it should.

I'm anxious to hear the next explanation.

Sorry, forgot to mention the outcome here. The ignition unit was bust, causing all sorts of electonic mayhem, resulting in a dead battery in the end.

They wouldn't swap the alternator because they wanted to be 100% sure so not to present me with bills for nothing.

So, it took 3 weeks (10 days at one location where they did nothing other than order a new alternator for nothing, then 11 days in the other where they actually fixed it).

Sorry to hear that you have been having problem, however it is a Mercedes not a "drive it till it dies" Toyota.

I can totally relate my Friend!

Wow! This totally reminded me of how high maintenance, super expensive and fun my wife was when she was my girlfriend for 5 years!!! The bottom line is this, like your S55 the fun part outweights and compensates for everything else.LOL! Cheers my Friend!!!

Must post an update of my S55 problems. Its been into the shop for 3 days and they have sorted all the issues- no problems now for quite a while. They also gave me an extra 2 years warranty and lent me the MD's C55 whilst it was in. Fantastic service and reminds me why I bought one in the first time- boys that buy this performance cheap in some rice burner dont get this treatment.
