My boss has an '06 S65 with the Renntech software and our local dealer said his warranty is completely voided. Even the parts that don't pertain to the software are voided! Anyone else have this happen? Is it this way with Kleeman? I am going to get an '03 E55 and I wanted to do some software, but I won't if it voids the warranty.

 

It 100% depends on the dealer. Can you please list the dealer so we can put them on the "Spawn of Satan" list. What a bunch of jerks.

I have Heaven and Hell dealers in my city. One (Ken Garff) used to grill the crap outta me when I asked about modding the car and reminded me constantly that warranty would be a major issue. Well the owner of the Utah Jazz must have had the same rotten experience (SL guy I hear) and he opened his OWN dealership just outta town. Totally mod friendly....in fact they are doing some special mods for me next week on my motor (details coming soon). Their direct quote, "We want our customers to be happy and we know that includes helping them get the most performance they can out of their cars. It's your car, you should be able to do what you want with it. "

Don't get me wrong...if I toast the motor, I fully expect them to give me grief about mods, but basic service and items not relating to mods will be covered by these guys no questions asked.

Wonder who I will snag my next Benz off of in a year or so? Friggin idiots at the other place. They get what they deserve.

If your dealer has already "red flagged" your boss in the National computer, he's pretty much screwed, but if not, maybe try another dealer. If no dealer within quite a long distance, guess not much you guys can do. You just got stuck with jerks. I was right in your shoes until this new place opened. That really sucks.

Last thing....THIS is exactly the reason for the Magnuson Moss Act from Congress.

You can't void the entire warranty over ONE part of the car being modded.

If the rear bumper falls off, they HAVE to replace under warranty. Course it usually comes down to the dealer saying, "Go ahead, take us to court, see you in 2 years" So they always win.....ba$tards!!!

Gotta echo what jakpro sez...I actually use the same dealership he's talking about that is "mod friendly". Heck, they are so friendly, they sold and installed the Renntech software for me.

I've have plenty of warranty work since then and NO PROBLEMS, including a bad intercooler pump replacement.

So, check around, it will be worth it.

If you are in Utah, then Mercedes Benz of Lindon. Tell them I send you. They are one of the best Renntech dealers nationwide.

 

MB of West Palm Beach actually has Renntech stuff in house and on the showroom. I cant believe they voided your warranty.....it also doesnt make sense since they charge the factory for warranty work, dont they? So the one idiot service advisor with a powertrip just lost the dealership some business...and a whole lot more as soon as you post the dealer's name.

"Void" your dealer and move to one that meets your needs.

 

I asked my SA over at MBSO and he stated that it shouldn't be any problem with warranty issues unless the defective culprit is actually the aftermarket part.

 

I know for a FACT that the Mercedes dealer wouldn't even know if you have an ECU upgrade. There computers don't detect anything different. Just don't tell them!!! There is a way they can figure it out on the 600's (only if they are really looking hard) but I won't say how in case any of these A-holes from the dealers come to the forum. By the way they can't, by law, void your warranty unless they can prove the modification directly caused the problem. If by chance you blow your transmission because of the increased torque (very unlikely), you can have your ECU reflashed to stock without any problem before you bring it in to Mercedes just in case. I wouldn't worry about it. The biturbo ECU upgrade is the best mod. anyone can do because it causes such an amazing increase in power and torque without having to modify your engine.
