Meet Shea

I'd like to introduce everyone to Shea...the newest love of my life. Bought her about 3 weeks ago. Just had the wheels refinished to match the S65 wheels...guy did a phenomenal job...couldn't be more pleased with the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Specs:
2006 S55 AMG
11,700 Miles
All options except Distronic and 4 Place Seating Package

I moved from an '02 M5, and a 20 year affinity for BMW over Mercedes, to my first MB. The S55 is a very different kind of car and I love almost every aspect of it more than the BMW. The only downside, aside from the 9mpg I'm getting with standard city driving (don't believe the instrument cluster's mpg reading...not even close), is the brake feel. Not sure if it's standard, but I find it takes a pretty good effort to keep her still at a stop light. To the point where I put it in park frequently. That top portion of the brake really has a zero impact...a bit frustrating. Anyone else experience that?

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and Shea to the board as a new zealot.

Congrats on the ride.

Neither the mileage nor the brake feel sound right. I had an '01 S55 and now have an S65, so I don't have a lot of experience with the s/c 55 engine, but I've never had a tank below 13 mpg in the S65, and I really push it. The n/a 55 never got less than 16. And these are extremes. I usually see better.

The brakes don't take much pedal pressure at all at a light. Maybe someone used non-stock pads?

The brake thing definitely isnt right, have it checked by the dealer! Mine grab like kids in a candy bowl at halloween or teenage boyscouts at their first middle school dance.
Enjoy the car, any mods planned?

I'll have the brakes checked out, but I have a feeling it's just a very different feel between the MB and the BMW brake feel that I'm used to.

No more mods planned other than DVD in the headrests. I'm not big on modding cars...prefer the subtleness of the factory look.

Great car, an excellent move from an M5. The material on a '06 S55 AMG says that it should get 15 in the city and 22 on the hwy....9 seems low [h1 hummer style ]

Compared to my friend's 328ci, my car bites down on the brakes. I can stop on a dime. Nice wheels, I was planning to do the same but got lorinser LM5 instead. Good luck.

I'm a Mets fan, btw...hence Shea.

I like that it's a wolf in sheeps' clothing, so no modding for me...the more subtle the better. I'm a stock snob.
