Yeah I have been scouting them out.

How would I put NOS on the 55? Everyone tells me once you get an ECU there is no way you can do NOS safely. If thats not true what type of kit do you get? Wet/Dry?

From the video, I did not think the cars went all out, therefore I am going to have to dissagree with the comments that the GT massacred the S65. The Porsched is going to be faster, nonetheless, but then again, IT should pick on someone its own size...LOL

To be fair,
The S65 was about 1 second faster than the CGT in the Quarter mile at the drag strip that day. So you can just as easily say the S65 killed the CGT.
From a roll it was a different story.

How can the CGT walk the S65 like that?

Is your ecu tuned for 100 or is it tuned for 91 and you put 100 in and let the ecu adapt for it? I am thinking of doing the ecu tune and having it tuned for 98 or 100 octane.

Mine is tuned for 91 octane, but it adapts rather well to the 100 octane.
A Renntech tech told me through Adam at Euro Elites that they could do a 100 octane only tune that would give me about 30 more HP, but then I could no longer drive the car on 91 octane. I drive it on 100 octane 95% of the time, but it is nice to still be able to drive it on 91 if I need to.

Then why are we still having the discussion that the Porsche "masacred" the S65? Of course from a roll the P-car should be quicker. For one, it has superior tires that afford it traction, not to mention that little thing called AWD. The S65 rolls with same tire width as an S550.

All I am saying is, its nice to see a vid like this, but the comparison is not necessarily warranted.

AWD?? Not to be rude but you need to look up your cars mate! The CGT is NOT AWD; it's RWD! Furthermore, when cars are racing from a roll, one needs to look at the trapspeed and trapspeed alone! The quartermile time is completely irrelevant because of the following: the trapspeed is the speed that is attained at the end of the quarter mile--therefore, from 0 m to 400m, Alex's CGT is about 6-7mph FASTER (his CGT traps ~134/135mph) than Roger's Renntech S65. This difference may seem negligible at first, but it is not! That is in fact a BIG difference. What this means is that if they keep going (past the quarter mile), the difference would constantly increase. Consequently, you can see Roger's S65 getting RAPED! Period! End of story.

Great race between 2 great cars nonetheless!

Furthermore, a four-door saloon running 11.0 flat is insane; let alone trapping @ 128mph!!

I have talked to Adam as well to see if the tune is best for 100 octane or 91. I dont drive the car much so could run 101 almost all the time but didnt want to be stuck in town for this. So maybe the 91 tune is the way to go. If you get a chance you should dyno your car on 100 octane after a tank or two then do the same with 91 octane and see if and how much power the car makes with 100 over 91 since it is not tuned for it. Thanks for all your great info. Did you do the airbox and ecu at the same time? I am just wondering what kind of gains you got from the air box. Ben seemed to get some great #'s.

Indeed I appologize. Not being a Porsche enthusiast, I never really took that close a look at the CGT to notice that it was RWD. I just looked it up and was floored to find out it was not AWD.

But I say again, Porsche should match with the SLR, it has no business racing with an S Class, even the almighty 65.

:
I was there, and it was far from a rape.
On that day I was trapping 122 to 123 MPH at the track, and the CGT was trapping around 126MPH as shown in this video taken that same day:
http://www.rogerver.com/album/Califo...%20Raceway.MP4

I don't know if Alex has had his CGT back to the track since, but as far as I am aware, I currently have trapped a higher trap speed than he has. (129MPH)
As shown by my newer trap speed, my car is now much faster than it was the day of that video.
I suspect that if I were to race him again without 4 people in my car, it would be a much much closer race and could go either way. I will be back in the bay area again in April. Perhaps we will have a chance to film a rematch at that time. I will also try to make time to Redyno my car and post the results.

Also, for those who are interested, The Japanese equivalent of Pep Boy's has an in ground dyno, and they only charge about $45 USD Total, for 2 pulls on it!
What a deal!

Go get that CGT win or lose that is a good race to have and watch. The best car I have raced around here is a 996tt other then that a new z06 but wasnt close the guy didnt know how to shift to save his life. What did you do to your car between that race and your new trap speed? If you went from 123 to 129 that seems like a pretty big gain share. Thanks for sharing your race and info.

To be honest, I was doing a burn out, the check engine soon light came on, so I took it to the dealer. They said the error code was for too much boost. They cleared the code, gave the car back to me, and ever since it has been WAY faster!

Im going to go do a burn out right now and wont stop until I see thet CEL. How do you do a burn out? I have a hard time get a burn out with esp off and holding the brake on dry surface? If I nail the gas from a light the tires break loose but I cant get a burnout just sitting there like my e55 use to. I take the rpms pretty high too but nothing happens am I missing something?

1. take esp off
2. put car in m and then in 1st gear
3. hold break and hit the gas
4. look sad since the burnout didnt happen?

The car does a bit of a weak burn out even with the ESP off.
To do a real one you must have the car in Dyno mode.
To activate Dyno mode, set the center display to show the odometer reading.
Then exit the car, and lock it.
Wait 30 seconds or 1 minute, then enter the car, and insert the physical key into the ignition and turn it one click to the right, then quickly hit the reset button 4 or 5 times. If don't correctly the computer will enter the configuration mode, in which you can activate the dyne mode. This turns of ALL the stability control systems, so be careful with it off, the computer wont save you from any mistakes in driving you make. But you sure can do a great burn out!
