Carrera GT and S65 having fun (video)
Yeah I have been scouting them out.
How would I put NOS on the 55? Everyone tells me once you get an ECU there is no way you can do NOS safely. If thats not true what type of kit do you get? Wet/Dry?
The S65 was about 1 second faster than the CGT in the Quarter mile at the drag strip that day. So you can just as easily say the S65 killed the CGT.
From a roll it was a different story.
A Renntech tech told me through Adam at Euro Elites that they could do a 100 octane only tune that would give me about 30 more HP, but then I could no longer drive the car on 91 octane. I drive it on 100 octane 95% of the time, but it is nice to still be able to drive it on 91 if I need to.
All I am saying is, its nice to see a vid like this, but the comparison is not necessarily warranted.

Great race between 2 great cars nonetheless!

Furthermore, a four-door saloon running 11.0 flat is insane; let alone trapping @ 128mph!!

Indeed I appologize. Not being a Porsche enthusiast, I never really took that close a look at the CGT to notice that it was RWD. I just looked it up and was floored to find out it was not AWD.
But I say again, Porsche should match with the SLR, it has no business racing with an S Class, even the almighty 65.
On that day I was trapping 122 to 123 MPH at the track, and the CGT was trapping around 126MPH as shown in this video taken that same day:

I don't know if Alex has had his CGT back to the track since, but as far as I am aware, I currently have trapped a higher trap speed than he has. (129MPH)
As shown by my newer trap speed, my car is now much faster than it was the day of that video.
I suspect that if I were to race him again without 4 people in my car, it would be a much much closer race and could go either way. I will be back in the bay area again in April. Perhaps we will have a chance to film a rematch at that time. I will also try to make time to Redyno my car and post the results.
Also, for those who are interested, The Japanese equivalent of Pep Boy's has an in ground dyno, and they only charge about $45 USD Total, for 2 pulls on it!
What a deal!
1. take esp off
2. put car in m and then in 1st gear
3. hold break and hit the gas
4. look sad since the burnout didnt happen?
The car does a bit of a weak burn out even with the ESP off.
To do a real one you must have the car in Dyno mode.
To activate Dyno mode, set the center display to show the odometer reading.
Then exit the car, and lock it.
Wait 30 seconds or 1 minute, then enter the car, and insert the physical key into the ignition and turn it one click to the right, then quickly hit the reset button 4 or 5 times. If don't correctly the computer will enter the configuration mode, in which you can activate the dyne mode. This turns of ALL the stability control systems, so be careful with it off, the computer wont save you from any mistakes in driving you make. But you sure can do a great burn out!
