Thats looks like the way to spend an afternoon!!!!

That GT sounds amazing! Knowing how fast the S65 is, it is pretty impressive to see the GT walk away like that.

I had seen this video a few days ago. Someone on 6sp had it posted. Can you guys tell me how you know that it was an S65? I played it a couple of times and didn't see anything specifically stating that it was a 65.

The CGT is incredibly fast, but I'm amazed at how quickly it dusted the 65.

The steering wheel alone says AMG. Then the area near the reading lamps where the SOS, sunroof switches are is darker than the rest, most likely meaning that it's wood trim. Only the 65 and 600 have wood trim there.

I was gonna say the same thing about identifying it as an S65 AMG. God, that CGT is insanely fast if it leaves the S65 like that

That video was me driving the S65, so yes it was the same S65 that I ran 11.0 in at 128MPH. Also the poor passenger you can hear going wooowowoowowoo just came from china 2 days before that video was taken, and it was only his 2nd time ever to the USA. I know he went back to China and told them how crazy we all are!

You ran an 11.0 with your s65? What mods do you have done and what octane are you running?

It was on 100 octane, and the only Mods are the Renntech airbox, ECU, and drag radials.

I saw the steering wheel, I just needed a bit of insight on how you can tell it's a 65 by the interior. Thanks for the clarification.

Wow amazing, if your car did an 11.0 sec, I would presume from the video that the Carrera GT was a 10.5 sec car! But on dragtimes.com the Carrera GT only does 11.1@133mph. I guess that 5mph difference in trap speed really shows from a roll!

Trap speed is a good indication (not ideal though) of how a car will perform from a roll where as ET is a better indication from a dig.

11.0@128....Are you kidding? I see the trap and ET but can't believe it...I want to believe it....how much where the mods? What year is your car? Dynos? You must be pushing 600rwhp and 750 rwtq @ 4600 lbs. What was your 60 foot?

This is making me seriously think about selling my low 11 sec E55 for a Upper crust rocket sedan.

You can get a S65 for 90k nowadays. Why not just put a 75 shot on your 55 and make it a mid 10s car?

List on the ECU/TCU reflash and airbox is about $12k. Renntech quotes 685HP and 870 ft-lb at the crank, but both stock and Renntech figures for this engine seem to be conservative. The rumor is that MB purposely understates the 65 figures to make sure the SLR engine is more powerful on paper. And Renntech quotes gains from stock, so they could inherit being conservative.

Don't forget that the engine is purposely torque-limited by AMG to go easy on the tranny. Removing that limiter is trivial for the tuners and gives a huge gain to begin with. Add a bit of boost and look out. If only someone could harden the tranny, the engine could be more seriously tuned and generate 1000 ft-lbs.

Here is the Dyno graph after the Renntech Mods:

Unfortunately we could not get a spark reading, so the Torque is not included in this graph, but I would estimate it at around 800 ft/lbs at the rear wheels.

Acceleration at speed and all, look at the two. CGT is more of an airplane without lift. The S is a really really fast four door car. I personally think the S65's are a somewhat untapped resource for insane power. I hope that as they become more available people will start building them up heavily like you see with the 211 E55's. Tranny aside, a possible 1000hp/1000tq stock motor is just plain wrong.

Anyone know the weight difference between the two? CGT/S65
