I can't drive yet. Dad has some cars though.
S65 or S63?
I'm confused, are the 2007 S classes 63 amg or 65 amg? I swear I saw s63 on the mb website and then changed to s65.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Price delta between CLS 550 and 63 is about 25k. That's prolly going to be the ball park for the S63.

Performance difference
I am not too sure about that..
Especially 0-62mph time is very close (0,2 sec difference - too much torque, too little traction). The S65 is in my eyes way too overpriced. But good for you if do not have to care about the price difference. The engine sound of 65s is in a different league, that's for sure.

Traction is not the problem for an S65 that it is for an SL65. A little care in first and then floor it and keep it floored. It digs fine, no ESP.
Throttle response is immediate at any speed, any revs. 738 ft-lbs from 2000-4000 rpm and over 500 ft-lbs from 1000 rpm to redline delivers a unique driving experience.
It is not a subtle difference from any other engine in the stable. You may not need this level of performance or think the cost is justifiable, but no other S-class model is close.

While 0-62 may be close the difference on the highway would be very noticeable. There is nothing quicker on a roll save for genuine exoctics like the Veyron and Carrera GT which is remarkable considering you could be travelling five-up with a trunkfull of bags.
However, as regards engine sound, you are incorect imo. The 55 and 63 models sound better as the turbos on the 65 make it sound a little muted considering the performance it has. To be honest though, when you have over 600bhp engine I don't think too may owners wil care about that

Chances are the 0-60 difference is greater than .2 sec. In addition, this difference is such a small part in the difference between the two models. I agree that it is very hard to swallow the price premium of the S65--it is at least $20k too expensive. I would not consider the v8 AMG S-class when a CLS with the same engine is available and is even quicker (or E for that matter). I believe Car and Driver makes the same point.
We can discuss this ad-nauseum and still each of us will retain their opinion. If you love V12s, the S63 is not even an option under consideration. If you like the S, like the AMG trickery, and do not care for cylinder count, the S63 will still be faster than most.

If so,then Veyron would be barely 0.3sec faster then let's say LP640 or 997 TT when using this favorite comparison tool of Highschool kids.
Compare 1/4 mile,0-125 etc and we are talking totally different league....
