2008 S63 June Delivery!

well...one can never be sure until it's here.
i mentioned it to my sales rep at the dealership and he generated a print out for me and it specifically states dark burlwood.
i'll try to post a copy of the printout tomorrow.
if it does come with the black laquer...i'll be holding somebody accountable.
as mentioned...i'm not crazy about the black laquer.
i also inquired about the early editions of the S63, and mine made the cut of not being one the confused S63s.
i don't know why mbz does things like this.
they don't inform their dealers what's going on.
build "early edition" cars that will not be up to par.
aside from the command unit...here's another difference in the early production models....LOOK AT THE BRAKE CALIPERS!
This one is the updated one.

Interesting about the wood!! I was very eager to avoid the black and asked all over the place if i could eliminate it a la carte. The funny thing is now that i have seen pics of people:s cars,I think the black wood looks sportier and i prefer it to the burlwood
Keep in mind -- if in fact you are getting a car with Burlwood, you are paying $7,000 for an upgrade to the new rims only (since the perf package is just wheels+black wood) and turning in a set of 20inch AMG wheels you have already paid for (since they are standard). In effect you are paying $10k for a set of wheels!!

freakin marketing!
don't forget about the delimiter now...
i doubt i'll ever get it up to 186 mph without getting arrested...but i guess it's good to know that it's there.
i definitely like the pictures i've seen so far on this forum...the lacquer does look pretty slick.
i guess i'm still a little old school and prefer the burlwood.

2008 S63=AMG: Black (Savanna/Cashmere) Kleeman Delimited 200MPH
S63 Black Wood
I took delivery of my S63 on 09 June 2007. I has been at the dealerhship since the 31st of May (I finally returned home from a trip to get the car).
I have the black trim and knew it was piano black when we ordered it (W69). Black exterior (040) and Savanna/Cashmere interior (804). Price was lower than originally quoted on the build sheet ($146,165.00).

I went for the package. While I am not thrilled with the black laquer wood trim, since I ordered Iridium Silver with the Light Grey / Dark Grey interior, I don't think it will look bad. The de-limited top speed is not a big deal (how often can I drive over 155 anyway??), but the brake upgrade and suspension upgrades are desirable, and the wheels are worth the price, by themselves

DVD Video and other need to know info on the S63 AMG
Eddie,
I will try to get some pics this sunday. It was at the tint shop for the windows, windshield protection film and clear film on a majority of the areas that get chips (entire front, A-Pilars, top front roof, complete lower ground effects, lower doors, complete rear side facia, etc.) It is a little dusty and I might be able to wash it for pics.
I currently have the replacement (S55) up on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-...QQcmdZViewItem
The guy that was going to take it backed out.
There will be an upgrade to the early release cars to add the U.S. Only factory DVD Video option. I have pics from my manual @ http://www.zteb.com/S63 . See also the attached PDF of my window sticker that shows a buyer loyalty credits for missing standart equipment.
Real Time Traffic Display
Birds Eye View
DVD Play Capability in Head Unit and Aux inputs
I am hoping the upgrade will not have a fee associated with it.
I am taking to Colorado Springs in Sept. so Cory at Kleemann can change the: Header, Down Pipes, Cats, CPU & Differential. He will add another 60HP and have the differential lock up with 60% torque instead of 30%.

Clear Protective Film On S-Class
Can you please post pictures of the areas of the car that has clear protective film on it? I'm thinking about installing that on my E63 and seeing some close-up pictures of how it looks would really help.
