2008 S63 June Delivery!
I just got a message from my dealer. They told me I have an April production date for my S63. They need me to finalize everything in the next couple of days for the order, and it is supposed to be delivered in mid-June. I'll post more after I visit the dealer and finalize things. They told me that the final spec's are in the order system, including prices. There was no mention of items not being available at launch (P30 package, etc.), so I am going to assume that everything I want will be available on the car. I'll post whatever information I can, as soon as I have it.
I hope they are right. I have not been calling them to get information or updates; they just called me, out of the blue.

Delays in performance package
Coincidentally, I received the following email from MBUSA today:
"Thank you for your internet inquiry.
The AMG Performance package has been delayed until the later part of the 2nd quarter. Preliminary information indicates that this package will not include a limited slip differential or upgrades to the suspension and brakes. I have attached pictures of the wheels that come with the performance package "
I take it from the message that April build cars (which i have ordered too) will not be able to get the performance package

I find MBUSA to be WAAAYYYY behind, in terms of news. The AMG Private Lounge put out the specs on the P30 package over a month ago. LSD is not going to be a part of it.
I hope to get to my dealer in the next couple of days, so I can see the order screens in person. I'll post what I find.

One new detail.... The P30 (030) AMG Performance Package IS available on the car I have on order - 3rd week of April build date.

Did you go for the P30?? I am torn given that the package seems to be quite expensive. I want the wheels, but am thinking of buying them a la carte and passing on the rest of the package.....

I went for the package. While I am not thrilled with the black laquer wood trim, since I ordered Iridium Silver with the Light Grey / Dark Grey interior, I don't think it will look bad. The de-limited top speed is not a big deal (how often can I drive over 155 anyway??), but the brake upgrade and suspension upgrades are desirable, and the wheels are worth the price, by themselves

I finalized my order at the dealer today too....
I went for Obsidian Black with Black interior
I passed on the P30 and ordered the wheels that come with the P30 (for those who care, they are Order code 783, and part #s B6 603 1380 (front) and B6 603 1381 (Back))
I figured the P30 package will tip the scales at least in the $10,000 range (on the SL55 it costs $14,000 and on the CLS $9,500)!! The wheels go in Europe for 2,000 euros, so i figure maybe a quarter of the cost of the whole package, so $7,500+ is a lot for minor brake/suspension changes on what is already a tuned car. I was torn on the decision though ......

They are not out yet - at least not in the US. I am planning on leasing mine, but believe it or not, the MB ordering system still does not have prices. Go figure.
