Seeking advice for S55 purchase...help!
Hello all...been a lurker for a couple of years and am now registered and ready to enter the frey with an S55. Most likely a 2004 with less than 35,000 miles.
I'd greatly appreciate tips on what to look for, trouble areas the cars are known for, service record issues or service that should have been done like the B service I've seen mentioned. What does that cover?
All input and advice is greatly appreciated. I look forward to being a card carrying AMG owner soon!

Well I don't think there should be any real trouble issues with an '04. My S600 is a dream.......
I just put a DCX extended warranty on it for 3 yrs.
Got to ask why the 55 when you can get the 600 though?
The 55 is a highly tuned V8 that is running close to peak so it will wear faster in my opinion. The S600 has a mildly de-tunned V12 with a sick amount of torque. I've driven both and I hope you get a chance to also.

Thanks all for your helfpful suggestions. I'm happy to say I'm the proud owner of a black/charcoal S55, model year 2006! I found a great deal and got a CPO car w/45k miles on it for 63k. It's in excellent condition and loaded to the gills with options. Keyless GO, parktronic, rear seat package, dynamic seating, satellite radio, phone...hard to remember them all! The 800 mile drive home was quite comfortable and very enjoyable.
