Picking up S63 in Morning

Went to my local dealer today to get a light bulb for my work horse E-class and they had a CL 63 and S 63 on the showroom floor. I turned in my S55 last month. We worked out a deal and will pick up in the morning. Black/Black P3, Distronic and I forgot the other options. Pics to follow. Need to read about the break in now...and get a baby car seat for my 1 yr old daughter.

Ugh...what a day - The dealer installed new computers and could not print up my lease docs....could not deliver the car today. 10am tomorrow. Pics will be inbound. Spent the day driving a Maserati 4-port as the Maserati dealer tried one last time to bribe me away - Hot looking car, great interior - navigation system from 1980's - damn could have won me over if the nav interface wasn't so horrible. Pics tomorrow.

Got it this morning - pics tomorrow. P3, Pano, Distroninc, Ipod - I think that's it. Seems quicker throttle response a bit than my S55. Great car - was out goofing around with night vision - fun gimmick. Now need to track down some 030 AMG rims. Great so far - seems bigger than my last car too...

No pics - I will take some tomorrow - great car so far ..drives like it is a lot bigger than my S55. Overall the best choice but that Maserati was by far more fun to drive just useless Nav/Radio interface and I would have lost my mind driving 20k miles a year with a useless nav system...I need to warm up a bit more to the S63 still.

Glad to hear that you like it so far. I am thinking about getting one for my next car when the E55 wears out.

*****THERE IS A BREAK IN*****

When you buy the car (AMGs only) there is a sticker on the top of the windshield that says you have to wait 3.000 miles before going crazy. I work at a dealer in Van Nuys and was giving a test drive and the guy went crazy on a 15 mile car and the check engine light came on...all of the seals and gaskets were blown. Thankfully he bought it and it was a warranty job.

I thought all cars were tested at the factory for several laps of high-speed runs.... all I've been hearing, it's not the engine that requires the break-ins.... but the differentials, the transmission and whatnot.

For them, not only I drive easy during the first x thousand miles... I always drive easy for at least the first 5-6 miles every time the car runs cold - just to allow the oil and all lubricants to properly lube all the internals.

Congrats on car

There should be a sticker says 1000 miles 4500 rpm limit 85 mph, no kickdown. It is also in the book.

I just peeled mine off after 1200 miles

Someone has said they do bench test the engines but the transmission, drivetrain etc need breaking in too.

CONGRATS !!! I am picking mines up either tomorrow or the day after, same options also, does yours have the performance package (186 top speed and light alloy wheels)? I was lucky to get that option also. The funniest thing is I too was at the dealership where I bought my Ferrari and they were trying to sell me a quatroporte also, Just couldn't touch the performance and luxury features of the 08 S63 IMO.

I put 2,000 mile on my car last week. Drove on a weekend vacation with my wife - break-in is all done. A great driving car. Distronic seems useless unless the guy in front of you goes fast - otherwise you slow down when you catch up tp everyone...unless you always drive in the left lane. Night vision another usless feature - we were in the middle of nowhere in Michigan's UP and I saw deer easier with the headlights than the display - great gizmos but no real world applications though.

I am happier with the car now but still seems really BIG compared to my S55 - can't figure that out but it is growing on me....
