Problems?
Hey guys,
Just bought a 04 S55 AMG warranty expires in Deceber of this year. I was wondering if there was anything major I would need to pay attention to before the warranty expires? I need to get the stealer for everything they have before it expires!!

The three that come to mind right away are:
1) ABC system failure- $4500+ parts and labor
2) Supercharger bearings tear-up- $8500+ parts and labor
3) Transmission control module replacement- $1700+ parts and labor
The reason for the high dollar amount for #2 was because the dealer decided to change out THE WHOLE supercharger which alone was $4k+. I know of another guy that had this problem on his 04 s55 as well.
My car just got out of the dealer yesterday for #3. My SA says it was something that is VERY rare and has only seen it on a couple of cars ever so this one might not even happen to you. The invoice says "found transmission fluid in transmission control module." So I'm guessing the fluid screwed up the electronics.
#1 happens to a ton of ABC equipped S/CL's. If you do a search here, you'll find plenty.

Any suggestions on how I can induce the dealer into looking at these problems for free? I just need some symptoms I can tell my SA so he can start investigating?

The TCM seal failure is not rare. Search here and you'll find a lot of griping about how it should have been a recall.
I would pay your dealer a couple of hours to go over the car with a fine tooth comb. Anything they find they get paid for fixing by MB, so they'll be doubly motivated to find stuff. Paying for a four-wheel alignment is the best way to find ABC problems, like marginal valve blocks. The pump is either good or not, so you won't find that.

My 04's warranty runs out in a few months I was looking around for an extended warranty also. If it was an 05 or above you can just go to the dealer and pay to extend the factory warranty. I called AAA and they quoted me 3450 for an additional 4 years or 100K miles warranty bumper to bumper coverage with no deductable and my dealer accepts this warranty. If I keep the car I will get it. I have to believe sometime in the next 4 years I will need at least one major repair and the warranty would at least pay for itself.

They asked me about the nav and the supercharger and said it covers both with no deductable. I didnt ask if I pay and they reimburse me but the MB dealership said they accept the AAA plan so I would think AAA would pay the dealer directly. I amy be wrong here but I was under the impression the MB starmark warranty was though a different company also so I dont see what the difference would be sending the bill to AAA instead.
