Decisions, decisions...'04 S600 or '05 S55

There appears to be a "Buyer's Market" on the older style S-class bodies now a days. Prices appear to be in the low $50's for either of these with low (under 35K miles)

I picked up the 55 over the 600 mainly because of the sound and feel. Neither of the two are anything close to a sports car, but the 55 would be closer to one in comparison to the 600.

If you do some spirited driving on the free way(90+) for some miles, exit and drive normally(traffic lights, stop signs etc) the sound is VERY MEAN. Even with the windows rolled up the in-cabin sound is very nice.

With the 600 you'll have uber speed and torque at hand and for a little ECU tune you would be pushing 600+ hp at the crank

Either choice is a good one. Hurry up and buy one then post pics

04 S55 AMG

I think I can chime in here and possibly help. I have both cars. My S600 has the AMG package on it so it looks like my S55 with the front airdamn and skirts. Im not too big on the S600 look in that auction without those AMG skirts, looks too old/plain looking to me. The 600 is quite powerful, many times I believe its definetely got an edge on my S55. I drive them both, but for grunt and sound, like the previous comment, the S55 is the choice.

S55 would be my choice! Although you can't go wrong with either one.

Your right, then disregard my original suggestion, instead get the S65.

Not sure really, ive done this now. I have my keyless go keys in my keybowl. I pick whatever comes in my hand and get in that car as long as the wife hasnt taken it.

Normally I drive the S55 as I like the sporty feel of it and since Ive gotten into modifying that one more.

i always thought the interior of the S600 was amazing and found the S55 interior to be quite weak for the $110k MRSP, unless it had the DESIGNO package. they're both great cars..i just can't get over what MB tried to get away with for interior quality given the other $100k+ cars like Maserati and AUDI were offering, or what Lexus was offering for $65k. the same criticism holds true for the $90k+ BMWs.

04' S600L

I've bought a S55 few days back, which I should get in the next week or so. I was also thinking of the S600 but from an economical point of view I've chosen the S55.
