Possible w215 AMG/Sport Fogs for w220 AMG/Sport Bumper?

I was curious to know if anyone has tried to adapt the fog light setup from a w215 with the Fog Lights in the Lower Mesh Grilles to fit a w220 Lower Mesh Grilles. I'd specifically be looking at the 03-06 w220 AMG Bumper. I've talked to the Mercedes Body Shop and they said they've done it, but I was wondering if anyone had a DIY write up here.

Thanks in advance.

I am trying that right now but the w215 fogs with grilles don't fit on the w220 body. I have a set of w215 grilles and they don't fit. You would have to cut out the open on your w220 grille and find some way of mounting the fogs. One thing to remember is the w215 fogs mounts to brackets that are made on to the w215 bumper. Good luck with yours. I belive it could be done. I will post pictures of mine when I am done.

I think those brackets are available individually and those are the ones we need to mount to the front of our w220 bumpers. From what I was told by the dealer its an easy task. I just wish I had more info...

shaun: are you having a seperate switch put by the existing headlight control somewhere or will the switch be integrated with the headlight control?

Not to sure about the brackets being available. From the pictures I saw the brackets looks like they are made on to the bumper. I could be wrong since I have seen only pictures.

Hey steve I am still weighting out my options. I was think that I would to do either 3 things.
One is to have it run of the built in fogs but the only problem with that is both would go on at the same time.
Two would be to run a seperate switch but I think it would look a little tacky if not done right.
Three would be to take apart the headlight switch and use the rear fog light switch which I do use at all. This is the one I am I will probably do since it will be the best "oem" look.

Now to fine a battery point under the hood. Suggestions are welcomed with this one since I looked my a** of and couldn't find any. Once I am done I will post up a DIY. But idf you guys do it first please please let me know.

I'm actually going to use the power for the fogs in the headlights to power the fogs w/ HIDs for the ones in the mesh grille. I was then going to wire the high-beams to the fogs built into the headlights so when I do use my Highs, I have more light.

I'll have to figure out that bracket part though!

I'm glad you brought this up b/c I've been thinking about this for the longest time. I can't believe the S is the only one without the lower foglights (I guess it's b/c they're integrated into the headlights).

I was thinking of the same thing for power. Take the driving/foglights from the headlights and run them to the lower one.

For the brackets, maybe some fabricate it with some metal brackets from home depot.

The main battery lead comes up the passenger side and is distributed behind the passenger footwell. If you pull back the carpet there will be a piece of styrofoam you can just pick it up and out. There is an aluminum panel it comes out with 3 bolts and you will see everything. Under the hood on the passenger side by the firewall is a fuse box. It is sealed from the outside only, not between the firewall. The row of fuses pulls up there are 2 tabs just be careful there are alot of wires and you will need them to fold the same way they were originally to get it back in place when you are done. Once the row of fuses is up and out of the way you can shine a flashlight down and you will see light coming through to the passenger footwell. You may want to take the kick panel off also, The door sill will pry up a little and then there is one screw holding it on. There is a speaker in the kick panel there is a connector to disconnect it. I use a 3ft zip tie as a snake and run whatever wires need to go through. There is a ground point in the footwell also but there are also a few visible in the engine compartment. On the edge fuse box in the passenger compartment there should be an extra "nipple" it looks like. This is where you want to run wires through just poke a hole in the nipple or cut the tip off remember to seal it well since this is the seal between the engine compartment and cabin. If you have any extra electronics you need to add you can stash them under the aluminum plate in the footwell you will be amazed at how much room is down there. Just dont mess with the sensor mounted in the middle I believe it is for the stability control. Everything goes back together the same way it came apart its pretty easy just time consuming. I mounted an power air horn speaker where you guys want to mount the fogs so there is tons of room. There are some nice aftermarket fogs hella make some it wouldnt be hard to custom mount them and just cut out the little grilles to go around them it would look pretty stock. The little grilles just pop off.

There is a post with a bolt on it for the positive and one for the ground. All you will need is a ring connector. I would use the main positive for power and put a fuse inline to the fogs you want to install. To turn them on and off I would use a relay I am very wary of tapping into existing systems on these cars. Let me know how it goes.
