S63 Happy so far but dispointed with IPOD interface
I mainly listen to books and maybe I am not using it correctly but instead of pausing the book when a call comes in it just mutes the book during the call so when the call is over you wind up missing a bunch of stuff. there is no easy way to rewind and you cannot control the IPOD's controls at all when its hooked up so you must remove the ipod from the cable, plug in headphones and manually rewind. Not an easy thing to do at 150 MPH.
I think the cable replaces the the Aux jack so I can't just string a wire from the glove box and put the IPOD in the cup holder to easily pause when the phone rings. Is anyone here having similar problems?
Also my check engine light went on after 75 miles but went off 50 miles later after refueling and making sure the gas cap was nice and tight (although it did not seem loose when I removed it)

iPod was apparently a late-stage decision by MB, so integration is clearly inept, very after-mkt-like.....
IMO, biggest issue w/otherwise brilliant S63 is the laughable plasticky/low-grade plastic-look leather throughout.....a $150K perf limo?????

AAC221 Factory ipod AAC Harness for 2007-2008 S and CL Class
2007-2008 MY S and CL models that have the factory ipod kit lose the ability to use the auxiliary input when the ipod is unplugged. 2008 Models have an A/V aux input (red, white, yellow) in the glove box but only the video input works. The factory ipod kit leaves the audio portion (red and white RCA jacks) disconnected. The AAC221 is a custom replacement harness that reconnects the audio input. The interface works as follows: When the ipod is plugged in the ipod will play over Auxiliary. When the ipod is unplugged the AAC will automatically switch the input to the glove box RCA inputs.

The ipod interface sucks. Especially having to fiddle with the phone controls. It is a lot better on my S than on the SLK as the S has 4 way arrows with a ok button on the steering.
On the SLK i have to use the phone controls to confirm a choice. In that car, i have no patience to scroll so I just use playlists.
I really wish MB would integrate I pod into command (they had enough time to do this for the S). When this becomes reality it will simply be brilliant!
Since the screen on the IPOD is disabled when the interface is hooked up you can't use the IPOD controls either. Instead you must detach the IPOD, plug in some headphones, and search through 8 hours of reading until you find the spot you left off......all of this at 125 mph. Luckily I opted for distronic plus (which is also great for text messaging)
