On my way back from lunch I spotted this....


It even had V8 Kompressor on the sides. So me being in a real AMG pulled up next to him and to make fun of him. Why do people do this?

Did he see you when you made fun of him. People like him add these badges to make others think he has a powerful car and its cost him $100K but in reality its a S430

They are fooling everyone that doesn't know what they are. Most consumers know what M3's and M5's and RS4's are, but they have not the slightest on what AMG means. Or they read it and it just doesn't register like the others do.

I don't promote racing to obsurd speeds, but I don't mind a quick pull on the highway or from a light. I find it more difficult in a 4 door luxury sedan to find people that want to do that.

P-car guys I've found are the most knowledgeable of non-MB owners of what AMG's are.

Heck, a friend of mine in a 2 door 2.5rs N/A challenged me to a 1/4 mile. I know he runs high 14's so why even bother. He has no clue what kind of power and numbers the AMG's make. I asked him and he said probably 15's. One of these days if I ever take it to the track I'll do it, but I'm in no rush.

Sad part is if he bought that car new he still payed 80K for that car. There is a 5 series in my neighborhood that has M5 badges and body kit minus the quad exhaust. People who notice such nonsense are ones who can tell poseurs apart.

The average person (with little interest in cars) has no idea what AMG or M is nor could they care less.

As pathetic as it is for someone to put amg badges on non amg car..his car is a 2004 or new model and if he bought it brand new it's still more expensive than your car..so I don't understand you trying to make fun of him for?

And yes he is an idiot for putting the badges on his car..but in reality who cares?

AML..I'm pretty sure he's talking about the fact that the day that car was purchased from an MB dealer brand new, he paid more for it than one would for a C55, which is true but even so; Money doesn't = Brains, the badging is hideous but the car looks like its nice. IMO the OP was not wrong for calling him out.

I didn't know the C43's engine would fit into the S with no problem....

Seriously, there are so many posers out there, even in the high end areas of Nassau County in Long Island. I'd seen an W211 E500 with AMG badge and quad exhaust, W203 C280 with the same badge and wheels (the wheels are fine, but taking out the "0" to make it a C28 is just rediculous), and W220 S500 with V8 Kompressor badge on the fenders. What is this world coming to? I know there are more people realize what AMG is, but this is just out of control. My wife, before I met her, she had no idea what AMG meant until I gave her a proper auto knowledge 101, now she can spot what's fake and what not. Posers can only customize their cars to a certain point to make them look like one, but for a hardcore guy like me, they are still copies.

I have no problem about calling him out..but trying to go next to the guy's car and laugh at him is pretty comical in itself it is still an S Class.
