Winter Tires for 08 S63

Any suggestion/advise/comment on winter tire. Dealer recommand Pirelli Winter 240 ScottoZero 255/40/19 all around. Dealer price 8000+ CAD. with a set of 19" Mercedes 5-spoke wheels. I can order from tirerack for 3000 US and ship to my house with a set of 19" sport edition ST3. Price attractive to me! My alternative is Nokian Hakkapeliitta R 255/35/20 all around (Nokian web site shows that they have 255/40/19, but I call alots of place and no one are able to quote me the avaliblity on the 19"). I can pick it up on buffalo for $1500 and than get a 20" Sport Edition ST4 from tirerack for $1600.

And here are my questions:

1. Pirelli vs Nokian in terms of tire noise/ride comfort/dry and wet handling.

2. 19" vs 20" (I don't see any problem snice both of them are 255 all around)

3. Sport Edition wheels. It is an very inexpensive. How reliable/durable/... are they. I have only seen it on C class.

The SottoZero tires are very good, I have not used Nokians. Another good option are Michelin Pilot Alpin.

I love my dunlop sport 3d's, also have had dunlop sport m3's. Work great in the snow and are fairly quiet in the dry. For snows smaller wheel diameter tends to lead to better snow performance. Z

I had the Pirelli new Sotto Zeros on my '07 S 600 and they were great. Smooth handling on the cold dry roads and good traction in the snow. We had record snowfalls here in Toronto last yr. Expensive tires but nice new improved technology...

What size of rims are you using. The 19" OEM that they quote me was $880 ea. plus $160 ea. for the tire monitoring sensor. And I spoke with friend who owns a garage told me that the spot edition is out of the equation and ask me to stick with the OEM equipment.

good point. Believe it or not the car came with the S 600 18" rims as factory equip. on '07's. So I bought 19" Denebola rims and used them for summer tires. I was told that 18" rims would be better in snow so I kept them and added the snows to them...
