$35.8k for an 03' S55?

I know this is riduculous .. but it feels high right now! I had a line on an 05' for $32k .. just trying to see if I should pull the trigger on the 03' at $35.8k...

My gut tells me hold out and it'll be lower when I go back because it won't sell .. of course my itchy right foot says "buy it now" ..

Which would you listen to, foot or gut?

if you can get a newer model like an 05, I'd go with that. The 03's were the first year, newer models get have the bugs worked out.

I would hold out! I bought a 2003 back in April for about 32K so that price is way to high. I think under 30K would be a good deal, just wait a little bit longer. I looked for a couple of months until I found the right deal.

I hear you all .. of course this is from the dealership and is CPO'd, which is the most attractive piece (along with color) .. and they don't seem to want to deal very hard, which is rather dense in this economy .. but they're sticking to the old "ours are worth more", even though it's been listed for over 2 months.

Bah, my right foot just won't stop screaming at me!

Yea maybe the CPO is good piece of mind to have. I do understand what your foot is saying, just tell him to relax. If you feel ok with the deal and the cash doesn't bother you just do it and be happy. The prices will always be less in the future. The only thing you should consider maybe is where you live. I live in Maine and do not think I would buy a S55 right now because I am pretty sure it is going to suck in the snow my S500 did. Good luck!

Last week I bought a clean 2005 w/ 54K miles for $29.5K, I've seen others in that range for 2005 model as well, I'd keep looking.

Yeah, I am .. tried to get them to a very reasonable $34k and extend the 1 year warranty to 3 .. flat no, $35.8k. Car has been on their lot for a couple months, they were even calling me back which is why I called them but they are stuck on what they say they are in for on the car ..

It's funny how they understand that means nothing when taking a trade in, only market value .. but for them they're trying to ignore the market and focus on what they're in for.

What kills me is that the beauty of CPO to me is that the car is under the Mercedes warranty, but they're only giving 1 year! I could get an o3' for $27k if I can find one and buy a 3 year warranty and save $5k or more.

I am wondering if anyone has auction prices on 03' S55's in CA. I know that's not what they sell for at the dealer but I'm giving them one last shot on Monday and moving on .. would like to have all the ammo I can.

Sit right foot .. stay ...

PAS I can't thank you enough! Whether they will work with me or not it's great to have access to this type of info. Hopefully I'll be able to help out some board members the same way so many of you have me.

Thanks again!
