Question My Lease is up in March 2010, how much will '08 S65 be then?

My lease on my '07 CL 550 Designo is up in March of 2010... what do you guys think the price of a very good condition (with extended factory warranty ofcourse, it will be my daily driver) '08 S65 will be by then? $80,000? More? Less? And how much do you think it will cost to upgrade the lights and bumpers front and rear to the newly updated 2010 S-Class LED's and newer bumpers/foglights that are about to come to market this summer? And what about upgrading an '08 S65's navi screen system to the 2010 screen upgrades which will include a new split-screen technology so I the driver can have my info up on the screen that I need while the front passenger can watch a movie or something else entirely.

Also, how much would an '08 SL 65 be by then, because if it is very cheap then maybe it will be smarter to get this as a weekend car and get a used Escalade or something to put all my daily/business miles on during the week....

And lastly, anyone know about the depreciation and extended warranty availability on getting a used 2008 Continental GT Speed coupe in March of 2010? I heard the Bentley coupes drop very fast, is this true? Maintenance costs compared to a Benz S65?

Thanks so much guys.... when the lease is up I'm basically gonna be choosing between either a used Benz 65, used Bentley GT coupe, or used Gallardo... whichever is the best overrall good deal and has extended warranties...

At the rate they are dropping now, I would venture they could be had for somewhere between $60k-$80k depending on mileage, condition, etc...

IMO...I would go with the S65 because you can fit 5 passengers in it comfortably and you still have one of the fastest cars on the road!! Which is the reason I got it, I use the S65 everyday and I got an SLR to use on weekends.

That's close to what you can already get as of TODAY..
By March 2010, it will be far, far less...

Question Ok cool then..

Ok so the 65's are gonna drop like rocks.. I assume a two year old SL 65 will not drop quite as fast as a two year old S65....

As far as Bentley Continental GT Speed coupes... I believe since it has the upgraded stuff like 600 HP, sport interior/body/wheels/larger brakes/etc.. it was I think a little over $225,000 when it was new? So in March of 2010 the first "GT Speed Edition" coupes will be about 2 years old... so you are saying that even this top of the line version will drop to $115,0000? What about a 1 year old GT Speed (a 2009 model, which is the first year that Bentley offered the optional Naim Audio System) Thats a pretty damn good deal... Have you guys heard of getting extended warranties on Bentley GT coupes?

Also for the Gallardo's, the all-new 2009 Gallardo LP560-4 will be only 1 year old by then and the convertible version will be out for 2010... I heard the LP560's optioned out are going for $240,000 new... so does anyone know how much it might depreciate? Extended warranties? Maintenance issues? I read about the car and the number of total parts it takes to make an LP560 has dropped down to 1400 or so parts compared to 2800 parts to make the older Gallardo.. Lamborghini factory claims the LP560 will be a lot more reliable car even compared to the older Gallardo...

Thanks guys for all the info.. this is really helping me.... :-)

sl65amg,

as you know the bentley coupes are an immaculate vehicle. So they tend to hold their value fairly well. Much more efficiently than say the CL or S class amgs.

a 2004 bentley gt with 18k miles, can not be had for less than 90k. Well if you find an ugly color, than maybe.

I say hold on until 2010, and get maybe an 08 gt speed, fabulous vehicle!

07 s65 amgs right now can be had for under 100k.

Question ...

So are you saying that an '08 Continental GT Speed will go for around $115,000 by early in 2010? Right now I checked on Ebay and even though they are 1 year old they are still going for anywhere between $180,000 to $200,000... ... but ofcourse that would be really sweet if they drop all the way down to $115k over the next 14 to 15 months.... do you know of Bentley offering extended warranties on their GT's? Also, I heard these Speed versions can be chipped to have over 700 HP no problem...

'07 Gallardo Spyders are still selling for over $170,000 so they seem to be holding onto their value better than expected.... so certainly an '09 LP560 Gallardo will still be going for close to $200,000 in 2010 even if it is a year old by then?.... who knows .. I'll just have to wait and see how the market turns out....

If any of you guys have owned or do own a Continental GT coupe or Gallardo please let me know how your experiences with them have been compared to owning an AMG... with regards to several areas, like maintenance costs, extended warranties, tuning availability, problem issues, comfort, etc..
thanks in advance....

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
CGT coupe of a few very close friends, I know for a fact, have been very maintenance free and incredibly reliable, as well as enjoyable. Of course these are newer cars - 2005s, 2006s, 2008......
I know these people would highly recommend the car.....
Again it may be a different story when the car is five years old instead of three.....

Personally, I would get either Bentley or LP-560 - Very different though so choose carefully..... Good luck!

Don't hold value THAT much better.....
And although the GT series are no doubt very nice cars, the Arnage/Azure/Brooklands are even better! (Twice the price as well)

I had 2 Gallardos (04 and 06 e-gears) and had plenty of problems with both. Now I have an LP640 which is much more reliable.

Also have an 08 S65 which is a total joy and completely reliable (only 5 months old though). HTH.

wow

Wow I'm sorry to hear that you had alot of problems with your two Gallardo's... I have always heard that they are supposed to be much more reliable than any Murcielago because of the Audi engineering built into them... I have even heard but not directly from owners that they are basically as reliable as driving any other Audi... and now especially with the new LP560 Gallardo.. the factory is claiming that they have brought the total number of individual parts that it takes to build a complete Gallardo down from 2,800 parts to around 1,400 or so parts.. which they claim helps make it even more reliable and easier to maintain at the shop than before....

You would think that a 12 cylinder car like a Murci would be much more expensive to maintain and upkeep than an Audi-engineered Gallardo... wow...

As far as the Bentley's are concerned, my main question was with the '08 and '09 model Continental GT coupe "Speed" Edition, which has increased horsepower, bigger brakes, sport interior/steering wheel, forged 20" wheels, louder/larger exhaust system, sportier tuned suspension, etc... You would think that a Bentley AWD twin-turbo V-12 special editon coupe like this would be able to hold value alot better than an AMG, but I don't know for sure.... I wanted to know how expensive they are to upkeep and maintain compared to AMG's, and also the availability of extended warranties in particular when dealing with buying a used Bentley Conti GT coupe or Lambo Gallardo... :-)

Hmm.. i was just at the Bentley dealer in tampa and they have a 2005 GT mulliner edition for $79,000 with 30,000 miles. But overall the bentley will hold its value more. The S65 will drop in the 50's within 4 years.

While we're predicting the future, would you like to know how the S&P will perform over the next couple of years ? No extra charge
