Deals on 2009 S63s

Greetings everyone,
With MY 2010 S-class comming out in just a few month, what type of deals do you think are available on 2009 S63? My local dealer hinted a possible $25K discount on a car with the sticker price of $141. It appears that these cars have about $9K difference between MSRP and Invoice. To what price would this discount apply, MSRP or Invoice? What's the best deal that anyone heard of on 2009s?
Thanks in advance!

2008 Mercedes S63
I was offered a 2009 S63 with P3 for 105k, or a fully loaded 09 for 113k.

I chose to buy a 2008 fully loaded (including Perfomance package) for 95k with CPO and 6,000 miles.

Congrats on your purchase, RDKJ, enjoy her in good health!
What is the difference between P3 car and fully loaded one option wise?
Can you also comment on your driving impressions. I'm planning on using it as a DD and a bit concerned about stiffness of the ride (compared to S550). I took one for test drive yesterday and didn't feel big difference in ride quality but it was only 20 mins drive. There are days when I spend 5-6 hrs in a car and comfort is my priority. I also thought about 07-08 CPOd S600 but the fact that it doesn't have AMG package is a big turn off for me.
Thanks for your reply!

2008 Mercedes S63
Eugene,
My other daily driver is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo which is really stiff. In comparison, the S63 is smooth as silk. My only Mercedes comparison is to a R500 that my wife drove for 2 years - which the S63 is much quieter and a much higher quality automobile.

Regarding options other than P3 - my car has the AMG performance package, Distronic Plus, Rear Climate Control, and Panoramic roof. My guess is that you really couldn't live without Distronic Plus (radar cruise), if you are spending that much time in your car daily.
Here is a link the car I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/08-S6...3A1|240%3A1308

This is the 4th car I've purchased off ebay (or thru ebay) and I have been happy every time. I never bid on the car, I just call them and negotiate. I find ebay a
great source to learn about the various options a manufacture offers. You will find almost every configuration of options on the site.

Good luck,
Rick

Eugene, I don't think you should discount the 600s just because of the lack of the sports package. I have a client that has a Designo Espresso Edition '08 that he installed silver painted 20" Lorinser RS8 wheels on and it sets that car off! Even without the AMG cladding, the car exudes class and catches my eye when it is rolling(and it takes more than a Black Series or a V12 to get my attention). If you are set on a sports package, it can be installed, it just costs $$. Also, don't discount the S65, as they have taken a serious depreciation hit due to the current economy. That way you would get a great highway cruiser with style, speed, and comfort befitting of a Gulfstream or Citation. In addition, V12 cars are fully loaded with every conceivable option available so you don't have to worry about option packages. The night view assist is kind of a novelty, especially in the Chicagoland area, but the Distronic Plus is very handy in traffic(just don't tell Marcus Frost). The 08s got a few upgrades too like unique quilted leather seats, Blind Spot Assist, and a nicer, contoured, alcantara headliner to name a few. If you were to get a 600, if you keep it looking clean(and I know you do), it will look classy for many years no matter what you do to it.

Rick - thank you for the info. All 4 cars at me dealer have P3, Distronic Plus, Rear Climate and Panoramic Roof, and no P30. I wonder if P30 is a must on a car like that. The idea of buying on ebay is new to me and I'll definitely look into it.

Nick - you do have a soft spot for a v12s They are completely different animals and I wonder if it makes sense to make one a DD given that I usually put around 30K miles a year. I can probably see 550 or 63 as 'workhorses' of sorts but 600 and 65 are 'garage queens' to be pampered

Car Whore
I wouldn't say that... I think it will be completely happy with the 30K miles/year without issue.

I do have a soft spot for the 12s! I also just don't care for the 63 besides for the exhaust note. To me, it just seems like the engine doesn't come into it's own until above 4000 rpms, and when will you really do that in an S? I feel it is anemic below that. If we were talking CLK BS, then hell yeah, but the engine, to me, doesnt belong in the S at all. Not to mention, EPA ratings are the same for the 63 and 600. Kind of an important point when you are talking a daily driver. One of my clients has an 07 with 48000 miles on it now, with no real problems. Sure, if you beat on it, you will shred rear tires, and you may need a trans overhaul around 60000 miles, but you have a good technician to take care of it if you do, right?

I was offered $37k off MSRP on one from a dealer in Oregon. Right now there's one on eBay, also brand new, for a buy it now price $35k off MSRP with zero haggle. Might be a good time to look at a used 2008 for a bargain. Those $90+k used 2008's are going to take a nosedive in the next few weeks!!
