2005 S55 AMG
Local BMW dealer has a 2005 S55 AMG on his lot with 59k on it. He is asking 25,900 and my buddy has him at 24,200. Car Fax, not Fox looks good no real problems.
Now WHY so cheap?
In NJ

Get the VIN # and run a VMI report at MB.
The economy is pretty bad for car sales now & they may just want it gone!!
No warranty repairs will be expensive! Get a MB prepurchase inspection!!!!!!
Good Luck!

2004 S55 (SOLD, miss it every day), 2009 GL550
IMO, there are several factors driving down the prices.
Of course there is the economy.
Then there is:
gas mileage and fear of $4 gas
repair costs
maintenance costs
insurance costs
ALL of these costs are 50% to 150+% higher than on a "normal" car. The spending habits of most people have changed, and some say they will stay changed for quite a while (as in generations, just like what happened following 1929), so these cars just aren't moving. Demand is dropping, and for the same reasons listed above supply is climbing as people get out of their high-ticket rides. Increase in supply coupled with drop in demand = drop in prices.
Of course, it could be that the major wreck this specific S55 might have suffered never made it to CarFax. Happens all the time. That's what the PPI is for.
edit:
Another factor is that BMW is having a hard enough time selling their own off-lease inventory. Maybe they just don't want to deal with having an MB on the lot and want it gone. I got a great deal on my '04 S55 at a BMW dealer just two months ago. They have had a CLS since before I bought mine, and it's still there...

Well he bought it and I just checked it out this afternoon.
It is black on black and pretty clean. It has a CPO(sticker from Princetonmotorsports) on it that the dealer must have done on a trade or from the auction. Just the same he got a 3 year
40k bumper to bumper from MB on it, even though he bought it at the BMW dealer. The BMW dealership just opened like 2 months ago.
Ended back at the 24900 number with the warranty.
