Adding new engine parts (2005 s55 AMG)

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know, I have ordered Short-Tube Headers as well as Heat Spacers from Vadim. They are on their way, and I just wanted to add a side note how impressed I am with Vadim and his professionalism. He had amazing deals as well as exceptional service.

Anyways he is slowly making my dream of becoming one of the fastest w220 s-Class come true. Pulley +ECU will be on its way hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks.

Anyways I will keep you guys posted, and what can i say?
I have to keep my self happy for my b-day right?! BOOYAHHHH
(Just couldn't resist buying parts for my baby)

Good to see more s55 amg guys getting into the modding game.

Make sure you look into the cooling system as it may act up due to the more heat you will create with the pulley+ECU.

Really now... I don't know/think stock is enough to cope with the high temperatures... But we'll see! Maybe get more input what other people think!

Trust me ask any tuner out there. The w220 platform is the only one that has 2 heat exchangers (a large and small). Upgrade the pump will be better. I run the cm30 pump.

I totally agree. I'm running a Kleeman stage 2 with an 80mm TB and Johnson pump with NO problems with AIT. The large engine bay and second stock heat exchanger seem to be all the heat removal all but the most radical S55's need.

Extra Cooling

I have an S55 with Kleemann K1, recently installed. I was advised, by a reliable source, not to tinker with any cooling upgrades unless the car was consistently affected by heat issues. So far, I notice that the temp gauge trends up a little more than pre-mod, but hasn't yet affected performance, that I can tell that is.

IC Pump

Oops! I forgot to mention, while dyno'ing after installation of the Kleemann K1 package, the original Bosch pump failed. I replaced it with a Johnson CM30. Works like a charm, from what I can tell.

Same as mine, temp a little elevated from stock but not bad. Need to do the STAR 10 degree set and a thermostat mod. More cooler, more go fast!

Cool Star 10 and thermo mod?

Could you please explain in a little more detail what your suggested modifications entail, specifically the "STAR 10 degree" and the "thermostat" mod?

Much appreciated.

So what I'm taking in is that even with my mods, I should be ok with "NO" upgrade to cooling. (ie. heat exchanger) because stock cooling will be sufficient?! if that IS true then i am glad i don't need to spend anymore $$ on cooling upgrades haha! after my headers and heat spacers, i will be waiting for my pulley +ECU as well as 82mm TB. Headers are getting powercoated so i should be getting them by the end of this week!
