Cracked Rim??
Went to Disount Tire yesterday to have them check out a slow leak in my RR tire, turns out there'a a hair line crack on the inside of the wheel.....right on the lip. The tires are stock sizes and are in perfect shape.....and the wheels not bent. Called the dealership and asked about it being a warranty item and they told me "no way."
Any of you gents had any issues with cracked wheels? Looks like I'll have it "repaired" for about $200 through the dealer.

I would expect it to be warranted (if your car is still under warranty) as a defect in material. There have been other reports on the forum of hairline cracks in AMG wheels over the last couple years.

I had the same experience with my old 06 s55 with the 2 piece rims.I brought my car in because i kept on having to add air every other day. Turned out I cracked the rim from the inside. It was a pretty big crack that went from the outer part of the rim to the center. If i were you i would replace it, its integrity would never be the same. I'd never trust a repaired tire or rim at speeds above 100mph.

The "better" wheel repair shops properly fix these cracks and out-of-round issues for about $200. My only suggestion would be to verify that you don't also have a bent wheel along with the hairline crack. I have had more wheels repaired than I care to admit but none have failed due to a repair.

Stop hittin' sh*t. Hairline cracks at the rim lip happen when the wheel suffers an impact. As the pressure on the rim is built up at that small point, it compresses the aluminum(kind of like a wreckless forging). All would be fine, except the radial pressure from the remaining wheel structure pressing it back into it's normal shape causes a catastrophic stress point where the metal is overstressed to the point where it shears itself from itself. Quite interesting actually. I love looking at the metallurgy involved in stress induced destruction.
