Can someone tell me the wholesale price for an '07 S65
Can someone tell me the wholesale/trade-in price for an '07 S65? I have seen prices for $85K for 20-35K miles 2007 S65s. I picked mine up for 96K 3 months ago w/ 26K miles. Just curious...i have a bad feeling this car is depreciating 1-3K per month. Ugggg.

You do want to hear the answer to that question....I will talk from my own personal experience when I bought my CL65. I paid north of 60K used, within a year and a few months wanted to sell it I had a tough time fetching 40K..I held tough and was able to sell it for 42K, the V12s depreciate faster than any other MB, I just don't get it.I wish you 10x better luck than me. Close your eyes and enjoy the car.

actually the 07s and 08s appear to be appreciating. and agreed on enjoying the car - one of the best I have ever had if not THE best and worth every penny (whatever that might end up being LOL)

KBB says $97k for this car with 25k miles in "good" condition. However, KBB in no way currently reflects today's economy.
In this BAD economy:
I sold my 2002 M3 for 20%+ below KBB.
I bought my 2006 Range Rover 10%+ below KBB.
I bought my CLK63 WAYYYY below KBB.
So, if these cars are selling in the 80's that is about right. I assume you bought yours from a dealer. Always check Ebay to get a good idea on current prices and negotiate with the dealer from there...
Also, you should expect to lose $1k+ per month on any car over $50k.
But if you are happy with your car, who cares what you paid for it?!

I paid $96K for it 3 months ago with 26K miles on it. Now I am going through a divorce (sucks). And looking into the value of it. I went to Ferrari and they said they would buy it for 75-77K. Local Benz said they are not interested as they can't move a certified '08 S63 w 4K miles on it for 85K and Carmax said it was too high end for them. Called another friend who sells high end cars and he said he would take it off my hands for 80K. I would be out 18K in just 3 months. Freakin terrible luck.
How could this car be appreciating? I am between a rock and a hard place. I owe 84.5K on it now. Was ready to make it a beast - 750hp/1000tq for 3K kit, now i think i will just cut my losses and focus on getting another house. Life sucks.

Sorry to hear that man... but yea, you are going to have to cut your losses somehow. There are always risks when we buy such expensive machines (compared to buying a Honda or similar) and it seems that you slightly overpaid for it in the first place, which makes the situation even worse for a short-term sale.
I dont know where he came up with "appreciating", no cars apprecite, unless they are 20+ years old and they are classics and/or rare.
I have been watching the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auctions on TV the last few days and many of the 1990+ "collector" cars are still being sold at 50% or less their original MSRP. The only thing going for any good investment money are old-school muscle cars, classic Ferraris and Shelby Cobras....
Even a 1960's Ferrari that was valued at 2.5-3.0 million maxed out at 1.8 million and didn't sell. Also an original Shelby Cobra was supposed to sell for 1.5 million and ended up going BELOW reserve for 1.2. This shows us how bad the high-end market is right now.

the cars are appreciating vs. what they were a year ago judging by what dealers are willing to pay at the auction. this is not necessarily reflective of the "street" market. I am also not surprised to hear that everyone will pay you far less than auction. we can talk about it if you want, i will pm you.

I know this isnt going to help but, in all honesty, if the car is depreciating at $1k a month that's pretty good. I dont count on any late model MB depreciating any less (at least for budgetary purposes).

I'd love to sell it for 85K but 80K is doable. 18K mistake. Could have sold off my civic hybrid. Live and learn. How does a car valued at 191K and sell at 165K only worth 80K just 2.5 years later. has to be the credit crisis. this does not seem normal. My 85K 2003 E55 is no worth less than my 2008 civic. WTF. Life is pain.

On a bright note, think of all the future p***y you will get after the divorce. Hang in there and life will get better.

They will drop more now till summer happy I sold mine
A 2008 cl65 just went through auction today with 43k miles
for $89k..... They too are dropping quick
I would sell it for $80k and call it a lesson learned....next time be patient and get the car at the lowered end of it's depreciation cycle...........
I sold my 2007 S65 I owned a little while ago.... Didn't lose anything but my payments.... I have owned many 65's ..... Sold a few as well
I recently picked up a mint 2006 S65 with 58k miles....nicely
optioned ... I put paper on it meaning I will be owning for a a year or so...as a part time dealer I can own anything and drive anything so when I keep something it is rare and I really love the car and got a good deal....
Personally the car has the same drivetrain as the 2007 ...I came to realize there are a lot less old body Benzs rolling around then the newer ones....it has the Same ride... Nobody looks at these cars for more then a Benz anyway ....not like it has Lambo appeal.....so for the $40k plus dollars difference in the two .... I like my 2006 a helluva lot more....$40k can get me another GNX or a couple of condos.....
IMO.....when I sell my 2006 s65 i will be up not down....cars are cars and that is where it ends
for $89k..... They too are dropping quick

As for the appreciating end of it
I did notice the cars selling a little higher from say 6 months ago
to now but this is not because they r fetching more money it is becuase of dealer replay in most cases which means dealers are buying to drive or play
and sell them back through Auction again a few months later
this is more common then people realize. When u have. Credit line with the auction you can do whatever u like ......buy a lower mile car and sell it off later
now since these s65s are well under $100k ... Where a majority of a dealers line expires it allows them to have some nice play time.....and why not pay more when u are not trying to make a buck? But have a nice car to drive??They r not going to lose more then 3-5%

I have been going to the dealer auctions here in michigan for a year now. What I can say is tht it appears that the used cars appreciate, it is more a case of supply and demand. Many dealers I know are scrambling for the tax season sales. From what I saw last on the car lot it is the money season!!!! Of course they are willing to pay an extra thousand or more dollars because they are confident they will move the units. I noticed an increase in the range of $1,000 anywhere to $2,000 on many popular brands and models. Sometimes even more if the car is really sought after. If you want to do a private sale post the car on autotrader, craigslist is a possibilty, but on Autotrader you get a different type of potential buyer. In my experience Craigslist will yield many phone calls, but very few real prospects.

Sorry to hear about your situation, sounds like really bad timing. Hope it works out for you. I have been searching 2006 S65 and 2007 S65 prices lately and they are in different leagues.
Yes, they have the same engine, but the current model with the updated interior and modern dash demands the much higher price. It is crazy you can get the same car for under 49K for a 2006 and one year newer cost 80K-100K. You own one of the best cars ever built, be proud of that and enjoy it while you can. Best of luck.
