s55 Warranty providers

Long time MBZ owner looking to step up to an 2003 to 2005 s55. Can anyone provide reccomendations for warranty providers. I am in California, for some reason that is sometimes an issue.

I have had GREAT experience with AUL, but they wont touch the AMG cars...

Thanks!

A Mercedes obviously!
www.chryslerfactoryplans.com is where I got the one for my 600. Many on here have their Maximum Care plan which covers ABC.

I have heard that as of Jan. 1st they will not do warranties on ABC equipped cars unless they are MY06 or newer.

s55 warranty

Thanks Fraser!

I looked at the Chrysler warranty page and there was no mention of any exclusions for ABC or anything else...Their maximum plan was approx $3200 for the car I am looking at ...Seems like a good price for peace of mind, provided they will actually come through and not challenge every claim.

I have an AUL warranty for my wife's 2003 Eurovan and they have been great. EV's have about a 50% transmission failure rate so we looked at it like pre-paid service bills. So far, tranny has been great and I have had about $1000 worth of other items repaired...

Thanks again!

I also paid $3200 for mine ('04 S600) with $200 deductible. No problems with mine yet but as you say it is piece of mind...I'd love my W220 a whole lot less if I knew one day I could wake up owing a dealer $5000+ for repairs!

This is the post which referenced the change in policy.

Might want to send a message to the poster asking where they got that information, or better still Michael Chase @ Chrysler Factory Plans...

Welcome to the forum I only just noticed you're a new poster

ABC Coverage

Thanks again Fraser.

I spoke to the warranty rep this morning and he specifically stated that the ABC is covered...2800 with the 200 deduct, and 3450 with 100 deduct for the 5 year 70,000 mile plan...

Why not MB warranty for the same price with zero deductible, transferable and approvals within minutes at MB Dealer?

It is my understanding that the MB Starmark extended warranty is only available to the original owner of the car. Plus, the MB Starmark costs more like $5K+.

No not true. I paid $3,300 for 2 years or 100K miles on my 2004 S55 AMG. No deductible, instant approvals and can transfer to a new owner if you sell the car. Your record is in all MB computers should you need service anywhere in the US.

It is worth a call to your local MB Dealer, there is always someone who manages the extended warranties and can give you a quote.

Good luck!

When I was reading up on warranties I read the MB Starmark warranty isn't as comprehensive as the Chrysler one! Apparently Starmark doesn't include anything that goes phut with the audio.

Oh, and $3300 for 2yrs isn't quite the same as 5 years

exactly. Chrysler plan aDDS 5 years and 70k additional miles of coverage, which is far longer for any car not under factory warranty.

I think I missed out on adding this to my 2000 cl500
if they will allow it im going to get it but I think their policy changed on older cars

you can extend a certified car for up to two more years over the original one year certification (total of 7 years of coverage). but the extension is $4000 retail (for the additional two years) and there is a 10% surcharge if it was not purchased at the time of purchasing the car.

so you pay more for a lot less years of coverage, but my understanding is that MB certification is a lot easier to work with, no waiting, no adjusters to deal with, they just pay as if the car was new (there is coverage limitations of course). so it depends on what you want.

i have had good experience with easy care in the past. i am debating on what to do this time around so these threads are useful.

I have no experience with Chrysler warranty, but the name itself scares me, bankruptcy and all.

Our government guaranteed the warranties of gM and chrysler as part of the BK, they are the safest warranty providers of all

if this is true, this is good to know because it may actually tilt my decision to go that route because the chrysler warranty is the cheapest.

I know opinions vary on this, but I personally would hesitate dealing with Chrysler on anything and in particular my Mercedes-Benz.

But if you have this coverage and you are happy with it, then so be it.

s55 warranty - High Miles

The Chrysler plan will not let you get more than 2 years with any car over 80,000 miles...(even 80,001) Kind of silly as a car with 79,900 can qualify for a full 5 years! I have asked if there is any flexibility and they are firm on their policy.

Any other suggestions for other providers (besides Starmark?) Someone suggested Mercury (?)

Thanks!
