Question 2011 S63 allocations?

Does anyone have any idea when that car is coming to US?
When one can be ordered?

2010 CL65
IIRC, '11 CL65 builds start Sept w/Nov launch; presume S/CL63 have same timing

Am among several repeat AMG S/CL customers at my dealer who have ordered early-build '11 CL65...and who also passed on CL63's weaker tq, dubious MCT and likely plastic interior

Will get SLS next mth and have doubts about DCT smoothness/reliability vs SLS' meager <500lb-ft...let alone MCT vs ~670lb-ft

I mean the new 5.5 TT S63 with sufficient torque (not much below S65) more efficient, faster transmission then the ancient 5speed and significantly lower weight over front wheels for much improved handling.
"Plasticky" interior can be easily fixed by checking the Designo option.
When the new engine was introduced recently ,there was talk that the S63 will be the first to have it and would be available in States late this Summer.
My dealer has not heard anything yet so I'm trying to find out if anyone here knows anything about it....
.....or knows a better informed MB dealer....

I was just going to make this thread. I looked at 2010 S63 today, but I do not want to pull the trigger if the 2011 is going to have the 5.5TT. I was going to call the dealer back tomorow and see when I can put an order in for the 2011 if they have the new engine. If they are holding the 6.3 over I will just take a 2010 and get a better deal on it.

Expect a September '10 launch of the 2011 S63 with the 5.5TT.

I would think you can order one around June or July.

Makes sense and confirms what I heard earlier.
Thanks.

So you think the cars would start showing up in dealers around September if you place an order, or is that when they will begin production with November delivery dates?

I can't decide if this car is worth the wait

I've never heard the S-class interior referred to as "Plasticky." I think it s quite nice interior w/out the Designo option, but to each his own.

Not my opinion either, was quoting WSH:

I can see what you mean with the S having a "plasticy" interior. The interior in the S550/S63 is nothing like the interior in the S600/S65. The 600/65 both have full leather dash, and the grade of leather is far superior to the 550/63. The only way to get the interior close is to spend the 14,500$ for the Designo pack.
