Newbie 2006 S65 - Need Advice
My dream is finally coming true in a week. Just bought a 2006 S65
. Loved my previous cars which included a - 2001 Modified X5
- 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo with the stillen upgrade to 400HP (Cant tell you how many super cars have seen nothing but my backside on this car)
On one occasion - I was next to this guy on an SL55. No cars in front (unfortunate for me) and we went for it. I felt like i was standing still and I had floored it.
Since that day - I have had my eyes on the S Class. Wish I could go for the SL65 but for now will settle for the S65

Trying to be nice to the family and friends as well.
Question/Advice : The S65 I am getting has 59K and the factory warranty that expires end of this month
Just as I get it. I plan to extend the warranty forsure but question is ...Before this warranty runs out any recommendations for me? Should I take the car in for some sort of check up ? Any specific issues that I should check into.
Thanks in advance and looking forward to being a member on this forum and ofcourse my V12 experience

I would say absolutely take it to either a very trusted mechanic familiar w/S65's or to the local MB dealer for a thorough inspection. I mean, even if it does have a warranty, do you want that headache right away?
Also @ 59k, it's due for the 60k service and that includes all 24 sparkplugs...big money. Get a look at the entire service history...at very least see when 1) f/r brakes were done or determine if they have not been and 2) see if it has had the plugs done / coil pack(s) done.
Also, make sure you're getting the options you want
I traveled to Charlotte from S NJ to get mine...had to be perfect.Jay
I also just had my left side coil pack replaced (67k miles- the right one was done at about 55k miles) and my tech told me he pulled a few plugs while he had the pack off and said they looked perfect, and told me not to worry about them for the time being. He quoted me about $1400 for a plug change.
My car now has about 68k miles on it and has been very reliable. The coil packs and the drive dynamic seats have been the 2 biggest problems. My dealer has had my car 3 times for the seats and still cant figure out what the issue is.....the coil packs were an easy fix. I'd say be prepared to spend about 5k between plugs and brakes.....other than that, drive it and enjoy it.
I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy my 65.......what other stock, 4 door, 5k lb sedan can you run mid 11's in???.......all under warranty?
