2011 65 Series
MB just announced that the Maybach 57/62S will have a power hike of about 20hp for 2011.
Since 65 Series had the same engine as the Maybach S I figure the same upgrade should apply?

Wouldn't be surprised if '11 S/CL65 has 65Blk-like 660hp and downshift blips....and ceramic brakes (given CCB are options on even $100K E63...and $185K SLS)...though w/AutoBrakeDrying and BrakeAssistPlus/PreSafe, unlike PCCB/CCM of VW/Fiat
Maybachs, like VW Bents or BMW Rolls, are POS from any engineering standpoint, just sold to clueless Luddites in 3rdWorld or rappers/scammers in NYC/BH/FL seeking an automotive man-purse...so not clear engineering changes to dying Maybach line can be extrapolated to far more profitable $200K+ AMGs based on latest tech platforms

It's confirmed,S65/CL65 will get a boost to 621hp,no torque change.
That TT S/CL63 with perf.pckge looks mighty attractive now, with weight savings(vs 65) offsetting power difference but benefiting agility and handling.
$50k savings additional bonus....

They have nothing to gain by matching the output of the Bentley,if they tried to compete against it they could easily eclipse that number with a minimum of effort.
Frankly,I'm a bit surprised they were so conservative with that paltry 17hp hike, the new 63TT will surely eat a lot of potential 65 sales.
It did mine....

I believe so.

See I view it more than a coincidence. As you stated, the engine can easily be tweeked to 700+hp. So why go from 604hp SAE to 621hp SAE?
I walked into a Bentley dealership near my work last year to show my buddy the Continental Supersport that they had on display. The car wasn't there (at the time I was shocked to see it a couple of days before when I drove by, apparently it was the show car making its way through the Bentley dealer network) but I spoke to a salesman about it. When I mentioned to my buddy that my CL65 had more power than the Supersport, the dealer quickly retorted that the Supersport had 621hp which was more than a CL65. I then informed him that I had a Kleemann tune and was making more along the lines of 680 crank hp, but the Supersport was still very impressive. I am sure that this Bentley dealer was not the only one bragging that the Supersport was sporting more power than the MB/Maybach V12 Biturbo engine. I am sure the 621hp was MB's passive-aggressive way of "competitive marketing".
