How does the power compare to your S65? It sounds like a gorgeous car, are you going to send any pics?
Yes, I'm jealous (except for the price).

Hi,
The power feels much more than the s55. Car feels heavier(and it is by about 700lbs or so) but is much more satisfying in the ride quality and acceleration. Of course the s55 had immidiate torque available and felt like a much smaller car while driving but s63 feels totally safe like a tank and feels more powerful plus all the latest and the greatest inside the cabin.

pics coming soon.
thanks

Cool, thanks for sharing..I agree on the instant power for the S55..you hit the gas and wham ! , you are flying down the road.
I look forward to driving one like yours in about 5 or 6 years.

Thanks.

I don't see a performance package in your list. I am wondering how come, since it appears you weren't skimpy in other costly options. And enjoy your new ride in good health.

Hi Ferri,

I dont know if I need more power!!!
May be an aftermarket tune as they become awailable . Does anyone know any info on tuning packages?
Thanks

Absolutely devine and like a live orchestra with high quality source, they better be for the price.
there are 15 b&o speakers with 2 amps and only 4 of them are the lighted cones(like the one in picture)
Thanks

Just bought a 2011 S63 myself (Diamond white on cashmere) I have the performance package and having test driven the car originally without the perf package I do have to be honest and say I wouldn't be able to tell the diff ?? A waste of $ in my opinion, but then again I'm an accountant driving to and from work ... Lol ... I didn't end up paying for it because of the huge discount on the car, but had I, I'd be shaking my head ... Overall the car is amazing ... Coming from an S450 4matic u could understand why. Def no complaints, MB has really outdone themselves on this car, art on wheels beat described it.

It would have been more obvious a difference, had you driven the more powerful car first. That is how power perceptions work.

However, the value of the package is subjective. An S63 is an S63.

Fair enough. But having owned many fast cars in the past, my guage is probably not that far off ... like you said, an S63 is an S63 ... and for the $, i'd rather go to aftermarket tuning which will def be noticeable.

Not to mention the practice of assisted-aspiration MB motors being underrated on paper when it comes to power and torque. In this case, and in this power level, I think this is just nitpicking.

If you dont track your car and for daily (even spirited driving) then I think it makes no diff.

Thanks

The top is a way to control the dispersion of the tweeter based on the drive configuration of the tweeter itself and the position of the listeners. Here is the rationale. The higher the frequency the more directional the sound is. If the drive system is a horn or piezo, this makes the sound field even tighter. Thus the "cap" will at once disperse and focus the high frequencies for the listener if it is properly designed and I am sure B and O did a great job.

There are many ways to skin a cat and the choice of B and O is somewhat controversial. In home hifi and theatre it is acclaimed for its aesthetic design but is not in the first echelon sonically. Perhaps Linn or B and W would have been a better choice for an AMG?

I found the lighting distracting in the SLS but it was impossible to get a feel for the sound quality. Is there a way to turn off the illumination?

As the owner points out, The source material is the limiting factor in any high quality car system. Dump your iPhones if you want high quality sound and use at least CDs or DVD As are better. It is comparatively easy to replicate the listening environment of a particular car and large anechoic chambers exist for the benefit of the designer.
