Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG vs. Mercedes-Benz S600

I think stock is the same. Not sure about after mods though. A slightly modified S600 can run 1/4 miles in 11.69 secs- check treynors posts and 0-60 in i think about 3.3- not sure. I don't think anyone has taken their S55 out to the dragstrip yet 
From someone who has test drove both- not sure who it was, theres a thread out there somewhere- they said that the S55 seems lighter through turns and the trasmission seems more sporty while the S600 seems heavy and has the turbo lag and stuff.

I drove both cars a couple of weeks ago..
The S55 definitely felt quicker. Hp-wise they are both rated at 493, however the S600 has more torque. The transmission in the S55 responds immediately and downshifts very quickly when you hit the gas. The S600 response is smoother and slower.
Also, the wild sound of the S55 engine gives you the impression of being in a faster car IMO. The S600 is silent. Once the turbos kick in, you just feel this massive torque pushing you back in your seat.
Either car is excellent. The S600 cost around 20K more though.
After driving them both, I had a very hard time wiping the grin of my face .

Do a user search on "Kain" and you will see that he is posting in mbworld in almost every forum asking the same types of questions about every vehicle. This guy is a troll that is just out to waste everyones time. I suggest you ignore him.

i heard in (Car and Driver i think), that while the S600 has more torque than the S55, due to the more sporty gearing and final axel ratio, the S55 actually has the advantage in acceleration. top end though, i'd stay away from both. true monsters. both are very very fast.
