Mercedes 2009 s550, 2013 BMW 328i,
2011 S65 or 2014 S63 4MATIC

Hey everyone, as of now I am new to the forums and everything so please bare with my lack of etiquette. next year in late 2014 or early 2015 I plan on trading in my 2008 s550 for either a year old s63, or a 2011/2012 s65. I had a chance to get a 2010 S65 a couple days ago but sadly that offer passed.

My main questions about the two veichles is which one would make me feel more like the king of the road. I know the v12 Biturbo is unbeatable in terms of sound, but the new s63 is indeed faster. I was also wondering about the torque of the two cars and if anyone has ever driven it feel the true power behind the wheel.

Audio was another one of my concerns. I am aware the new Burmester sound system is top of the line but how would the s65s band and Olsfen system fair against it.

Which interior is better is another one of my concerns. I love the s65s diamond pattern but is that exclusive to s65 only or does the new w222 s63 have that as well.

Lastly the feeling of driving each one. Which one feels better to drive, I know with the s65 you feel like you are the king of the road but with an s63 would I get the same feeling. I have only seen one s65 my whole life and around 3 s63s on the road so those cars are pretty rare where Im from.

If I missed anything or some interesting things and features about both cars that Im missing please share.

The S63 v8 biturbo may be fast, I can't see it being faster than the v12 biturbo.
I love my 65, def glad I didn't go for the 55 or 63.
Good luck!!

S63,no doubt whatsover (and I'm a huge fan of 65,had SL and S).
The new S is just head and shoulders above the old one, absolutely fantastic car and with AWD will leave the S65 for dead,anytime,anywhere.....

I guess it would also depend where u live if u need the 4matic or not? I wouldn't ever have use for it.

I am from Toronto Canada so we do get quite a bit of snow during the winter. Also I was wondering what you think the prices will be after the 1st year of the w222 s63. Would you all say around 110-120k mark?

I have a 2011 S63 which is simply lovely, but I will be upgrading to the 2015 S63 4Matic because even in dry weather, the traction control is engaging and spoiling my fun all the time. Yes, I do need better tires, but 4Matic is useful in all sorts of weather.

W222 is a HUGE upgrade over the old S65... I would definitely go for a 2014 S63

The other OP's stated it well; the new S63 will simply burn up the S65 because it can put down the power, plus it is a vastly better car.

Even on RWD, the R231 SL63 is beating the SL65...

i'm going to have to respectfully dissagree. i've gone against a biturbo s63 in my w220 s65 and walked right away from it from a roll.

From a stop, I'm sure the 4matic would get quite the jump on me, but not from a 30-50mph start

Another vote for the 2014 S63, but I would add this from Renntech to make it capable of hanging with the 65 at highway speeds. not bad for $12,000 http://www.renntechmercedes.com/www/node/1130

S-65 if you want the King of Mercedes. S-65 is faster than the 63. 604 hp738/lb tourque verses 515 hp for the 63. Huge difference and the sound is annoying loud on the 63 while the 65 is music like any exotic V-12. 65 rare low production numbers, 63 a more common car. 65 new $225k and valet personal know it,63 $145k. You ask for the king and that's the 65, just ask any Mercedes dealer.

depends, if you can find a 65 with some sort of warranty id say yes over the 63, HOWEVER, i just looked at a 14 S63 and it was amazing, fit and finish, technology, was amazing, same engine as my 14 E63 S with more tq, it will no doubt be faster to 80/100 than the 65, but the 65 will have it on the top end, i believe. I've heard from numerous mechanics, owners, etc that you dont want to own a mercedes V12 out of warranty, as they always have problems! Keep us updated with what you do, either way you cant wrong, good luck!

S63.
V12TT is amazing, but tough to justify unless full warranty.

I cant even keep traction 0-80 mph so how would a S-63 be faster when the S-65 has 738/ftlb of tourque?

i said the awd S63 will be quicker than the S65 to 80-100 with the awd, but the S65 is a complete beast after that. Benz themselves claims a 4.0 60 time and i think a 4.2 for the S65
