Turn Signal Bulbs

While changing my turn signal bulbs to Silvervision bulbs, to de-yolk the turn signals. I found that the front bulbs are twin filament bulbs, couldn't see any markings as to wattage so I went down to the dealer to check on it. It has the same 21W designation as the rears, anybody know why it's a twin filament bulb? Think there's any problem with installing the Silvervision bulbs?

Thanks,

Good question. Do these bulbs blink orange, and are they easy to install?

Crankin,

Sorry for not responding sooner, but I was away on vacation. The bulbs have a silver finish on the inside of the glass, so they look silver, but blink orange when activated. They fit right in, like the originals and get rid of the orange "yolk" in the turn signal housing. Looks much better!

Finnish C32,

Do you know if they are available in the U.S.? How much were the bulbs? I used the Silvervision's because I had an extra set from my M5. How do the Osram's differ from the Silvervision's?

Bulbs are available in U.S i think, they are about 20$ pair. Wattage is right for MB cars. They are simply better look (silver/blue) than Silvervisions, plus there is "brighter" color when blinking.

The twin fillament bulbs are the 1157s. Available most anywhere. Leave it up to MB to be so safety conscience that they chose an twin fillament bulb where a single would do.

.............I have been doing this. Simply buy siver high heat spray paint from any hardware store and spray pain the bulb of your regular orange turn signal bulbs. Allow to dry overnight and then install in your car.Excellent result. Looks clear and flashes amber. Wiith one $2 spray can you get hundred of siver bulbs. If you still want to spend $20 for just two bulbs, I'll be happy to take your money.
