Widest rims and tires for a '07 S65?
I am not a fan of the stock rims and tires on the S65 so have bought some aftermarket rims (waiting on tires to arrive as I had to import them). I am curious whether this set-up will rub or there will be any fitment issues (my rims dealer couldn't assist with this and the tire dealer wasn't sure with the rims so I had to go out on a limb on this one).
I am also curious what the widest tires and rims sizes that can be fitted to the S65 without tire run or fitment issues.
These are the rims:

I went with 21" rather than 22" for fears of tires rub.
They are 9" upfront and 10.5" rear
Tire options are a little limited due to the rim size but I have managed to source the following:
265/35ZR-21 Pirelli PZero Nero GT XL (FRONt)
305/30ZR-21 Pirelli PZero Nero GT XL (REAR)
I am also curious what the widest tires and rims sizes that can be fitted to the S65 without tire run or fitment issues.

Very strongly recommend fitting the same size wheels and tires front & rear.
It does WONDERS for the handling.

I am running the same size rims (Carlsson 2/11 Ultralites) with a 275/30-21 up front and a 295/35-21 rear. Using 10mm Carlsson spacers on the rear and have a small but acceptable rub under full compression on the rear. Fronts clear without issue and are a noticable improvement in grip from the stock size.

21x9 with 40mm offset on front, 275/30-21
21x10.5 with 45mm offset on rear and 10mm Carlsson spacer, 295/30-21
The wheels sizes and spacer are the basic recommended fittment from Carlsson for the W221, however they recommend a 245 on the front....which I found WAY too small. The 275 is a huge step up in quelling any understeer.

Thanks for all the input. I definitely want the widest tires out rear. The car loses traction pretty easily on those skinny stock tires.
I saw some people have spacers - any reason for this or just for looks?

I'm running super sport 295 on the rear stock rims with amazing traction. Skinny tire tend to grip harder once warm. Beside 305 is only 1 cm wider, it won't make a big difference. Wider tires for a drag racing maybe.

I did a lot of practical research on wheels and tires last year ( or at least as much as my wife put up with ). There were a few big wins, but one thing that stuck out was how wider rear tires only made things worse. There was never any benefit in any respect.

Some people may find a benefit with a new, wider, wheels, but that is mire likely due to fitting fresh rubber instead if old. When you compare like with, its difficult to show any benefit. Just use good rubber.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have some Brabus Monoblock VI wheels for my S65. Haven't installed yet. They're 21x9 front and 21x10.5 rear. Offsets are 57 front and 59 rear. Running 255/35/21 front and 295/30/21 rear. Does anyone know off top of I'll have any fitment issues? I know these are made for the W221 but not sure about W221 AMG. Still waiting on an answer from Brabus. I also have to find out what size wheel bolts I need to fit them. Obviously the oe bolts are too short. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I gave the 221 S-65 same size wheels and tires front and rear. 10mm wider then stock rear size. Lots of grip. Rubbed the fender liner in front when parking. Loved them. Then I got bit by 222 S-65 crack. First hit was free!
