Absolutely beautiful!!
I am on the hunt for a S65. Still debating if I want to flip the S55 or keep it.

Keep it. When the 65 is on the fritz (and it will be on the fritz), you'll be glad you did. Just facts.

But I do think the W220 AMG cars are brilliantly, elegantly executed on the interior. Simple but luxurious. When you can get a 55 with some of the options typically reserved for 65s (rear A/C, 19" two pieces, heated and cooled reclining rear seats), it's almost perfect.

Thanks for all the photos. It turns out I already have your car in my registry from when it appeared on ebay earlier this year by the seller Dinan Motors. I have them as being in Orange, CA. Did you go all the way across the country to get this?

Something else I noticed about your car, and I have seen it on a few of them, it doesn't have the rear seat heaters. At least there's no switch on the rear doors for it. Mine has that feature so I know what it looks like.

You mentioned Keyless Go as an option. I have KG and also the original window sticker (I got the car from the son of the original owner) and it does not show KG being an option. So I have wondered why I've seen several S65s without it. Well several months ago I came across one for sale on the internet that didn't have KG and it also had the original window sticker. It showed a credit option of about $1,500 for not having KG. I guess people could order it without that feature. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want it--I love being able to walk up to the car and swipe my hand across the chrome plating on the door handle and the car unlocks. And of course you don't have to fish through your pockets to get the key out to start the car.

Dinan sold it to a customer out there. The poor guy drove it 1400 miles, 700 of them back to Utah, before he ran over a curb and damaged some wheels and a couple suspension pieces. It's a long story but his insurance company totaled it. I bought it from auction in Utah and had it shipped to Florida. A $25 inner tie rod from my local Mercedes dealer and it was back on the road. I still need to refinish the wheels and replace the left steering knuckle but that's it for the damage from the incident. It drives fine for now, all the way to the speed limiter, lol.

I've spoken to Dinan, and to the previous owner. I also spoke with the Utah Mercedes dealer who inspected the damage. The car is really quite nice.

I would have had everything buttoned-up already but I fell victim to the dreaded fresh air intake box reed valve clog. I completely forgot to check it and drove it home one night when it rained. Came out the next morning and the whole passenger floor was flooded. Needless to say that involves pulling most of the interior which has been done. No electronics got wet and since it was out of the car the same day everything was able to be dried out properly with no odor left in any of the carpets or foam backing. Definitely not a fun job. My wife has over 3 hours with the carpet cleaner sucking every bit of moisture out of the carpets and the foam from underneath.

it's really not much work:

As for the heated and cooled rear seats I am a bit bummed that option isnt there, as well as the linguatronic feature. I have all the components to add both, as well as the 4 place seating option but I don't want to tackle that right now.

Under the hood, passenger side corner by the firewall. It has the mesh grate over top of it. This is where fresh air enters your car's AC system. There is a rubber Reed valve at the bottom that is supposed to allow water to drain out. It gets plugged up with sand and debris and will not allow the water to drain. If water fills up in the Box high enough it spills over into the inside of your car, specifically straight into the blower motor and then down onto your floor. There has been a class action lawsuit for this issue. It involves S class, CL class and R Class cars. This is very easy to avoid an issue by simply cleaning the thing out every once in awhile. If you look straight down through the plastic grate you will see a small rubber drain valve at the bottom, this is the reed valve. If you can't see it then it is probably covered with dirt and will not drain.

can you give me any details in a PM? While I'm looking for an '06 S 55, I might also consider an S 65 if it has the options I want.

This thread has stalled out a bit, but I'd like to add my S65 to the registry if the OP is still interested. Flint Grey on Ash Grey interior.

I am no longer updating the list.

I sold my car 2006 S65 a little over a year ago and stopped updating the list. I did give the list, in electronic form, to the guy who bought my car. I have lost track of him.

Chest Rockwell, I see your car has 4-place seating. I was able to account for 101 of the 427 2006 S65 AMGs sold in the US. Of those, I came across only four that had that option.

I think I bought your old car. Did it end in 427?
