I recently acquired a 2006 S65 AMG. Given that this was the last year for the W220 and the first year for the S65, these are kind of unique. With a production of only 427 they are also kind of rare (I realize other editions of certain Mercedes may be rarer). So, I decided to compile a registry of all 2006 S65s I can identify.
I have compiled this in an Excel file. Is there somewhere on this site where I can upload it? Also, if you'd like to have your car in the registry, let me know. So far I have identified twelve of them.
It was only available in the US in 2006. So I guess worldwide it's not as unique as I thought, but still, with 427 made in 2006, it's rare. I'd be curious to know how many S65s were made in 2004 and 2005 worldwide.
The 6.0 liter V-12 (275?) was available in the US in 2005 in the SL65 AMG and the CL65 AMG.
The production number always quoted for the 2006 S65 is 427 and no mention is ever made of that being just those sold in the US. So I assume it's worldwide.
I wish I could get people interested in my registry. The dozen cars I have listed in it are mine and eleven others I've found for sale on the internet.
I have been in the car hobby for about 40 years and know that for people who have an interest in cars that are more than about 30 years old, if a particular car was rare, it's very interesting to have a list of all known examples. Thus my efforts to compile a registry.

My registry now accounts for 58 of the 427 2006 S65s sold in the U.S. Send me a private message if you want me to add your car to the list. I won't include your name in the list though I'd like to have your location, along with other information.

I'm planning to building a registry for the 65 cars. (S65/SL65/CL65 and G65) and have already registered the domain http://mb65amg.com. I'd be interested in hearing from members with these cars as I build this registry. For now, I think that the most important information will be
Year: Model: Vin # (last 5 digits should be fine): Exterior Color: Interior Color : Location
I might try to maintain a history in the future by tracking ownership change date and locations.
I have already begun a registry for the 2006 S65 AMG (I have had a 2006 S65 for a little over a year). I have accounted for 63 of them. I have photos for about the last 20 I have found, plus CarFax reports for about 30 of them. I have attached my file.

Just turned 102k. I'm in Clearwater Florida. Keyless go, park assist, dynamic seats, not really sure what all is standard for the S65 though. 07/05 build date.
