Why on earth did they have a separate stalk on the column for the cruise control??

I had the car for almost a year and still hit the damn thing when trying to use the turn signal stalk.

They've had that for many years... I'm driving a 2016 and they have the turn signal stock in the right place now.

I wonder what was behind design?

When I first bought the car, I was entering a main highway in Charlotte. I hit the cruise thinking it was the turn signal and the car started taking off. Scared the crap out of me.

Yeah.. I don't know the reasoning behind it.. it does seem stupid.. but they do things differently in Germany.. I can tell you this: after owning four of these cars, you do get used to it and it becomes second nature to grab the lower one.. even with me driving my other cars, when I get in the S I never grab the wrong one like I did in the beginning.

By the way, the 2016 C300 I'm driving has a turbo and only about 250hp but maybe the gearing or light weight helps it, but I got on it last night and it pinned us in our seats going up a hill.. we were blown away! MB is definitely getting with the times quicker.. even the navigation looks big and beautiful..

The C300 was the loaner they gave me for my strut replacement. I was surprised at the power of it. Yes, I loved the navigation and the 'mouse' on the console. Great ride!!

I'm afraid it's only Mercedes.

All the other German manufacturers do things sensibly.
