S65 AMG timing chain & connecting rods issue

S65 GL320CDI GLS63 80 Series Landcruiser
I'll let others weigh in but I haven't seen any timing chain discussion on the 275 so it is probably not usually an issue. Not sure what they mean by connecting rods on this engine. I'm personally always suspect of any dealer diagnosis but I know that doesn't help you!

How often is oil changed?
I've seen with the bent eights where oil gets changed... The LOF kid doesn't think that all those pesky O-rings matter... It got assembled without one or more of them for no oil to one section of the engine which made for predictable results.
Did the dealership check oil pressure and get real with diagnosis or just drop a quick '"It's junk! This will $ting" diagnosis?
I hope that they at least pulled the drive belt to rule out all that can and does happen with accessory drive that can be mistaken for more serious noises.

Yes I agree with the others, sounds like they have no idea. Get a second opinion before spending any money with them.

I would certainly get a second opinion from an independent Mercedes repair shop. Reputable MB shops are often owned and run by seasoned techs who usually have started their career with dealer experience. I'm not saying it can't be what they say but certainly worth checking out as others have already mentioned.
